Andre Ward is clearly the #1 fighter of the division, and in boxing atm. People need to wait for that man to finish his temporary commentating gig. He's doing great thing for kids atm. Helping out in charity homes.
There is the one that poster here who does those gif breakdowns posted, he had it as a close fight but Kovalev winning. There are those two videos that show every single punch landed in the fight, they go on to show Kovalev winning and prove that the compubox numbers were wrong and always inflated Ward's landed punches. I'm trying to find one in particular that was a text analysis of the fight that someone posted on this forum before, but I can't recall keywords. I like this one in particular because it was the best breakdown I've came across for this fight. I'm going to look through my post history since I'm pretty sure I commented in the topic it was posted in when I get off work.
It doesn't concern most whether Ward fights or retire. I'm not concerned the rematch happens or not. I know who won. I just want to see Kovalev back in action. So make up your God da*n mind Ward!!!
Understand I've trolled some of those YouTube videos in the comment section. I listed every punch with the exact time they landed the author magically missed counting as Ward lands. I was told to make my own video lmao.
There is no way two people independent of each other both magically missed Ward's in an attempt to show Kovalev winning. Also being told to make your own video is actually a reasonable response since if you are right it would irrefutably prove them wrong.
Not a Ward fan but no way it was highway robbery, it was a close fight and people focus way too much on the KD. This is all about money, the first fight was a bomb and money was lost. Ward and his team know they will not get the same type of money.
After watching the fight many times it was Ward who initiated 80 percent of the clinches. Let's not forget about him coming in with his head and using those elbows.
Pay better attention MVC. If Kov fights anyone else he loses his rights under the rematch contract. Kov needs his titles to be marketable. You really think Eleuder Alvarez, or Joe Smith Jr or Sullivan Barrera or Adonis Stevenson will fight Krusher with no titles on the line?
I guess it depends on your point of view. I saw Ward trying to get inside and Kovalev grabbing him when he managed to get inside. Kovalev knew how Ward fights. Bullies don't like to be bullied.
I don't think he got a gift...but with that said, he has unfinished business with Kovalov...and if he opts out of a rematch, it will be disappointing to say the least...Ward spoke of legacy before the first fight...a rematch, or even a lack of one...will speak even more on his legacy. The rematch needs to happen!
Sorry buddy that's what I said, he needs to wait on his ass then, Ward is the A-SIDE!!! Kovalev can't dictate when Ward wants to fight, that's Ward's decision. The man is healing and needs to rest. He's on vacation!@!! You don't rush a man back from spending time with his family. He will return when he returns. Until then, Kovalev needs to wait or he needs to fight someone else and hopes Ward will give him another shot. That's about the end of it.
Let's get into semantics......not The outcome on record vs what the experts / aficionados believe may be two different things. If he takes the rematch he makes money and can prove all the non-believers who think he was given a gift wrong and show his fans what a true champion does and ensure his name doesn't have an asterisk next to it in the history books. Conversely avoiding the rematch raises questions about why. For example, is he scared of getting KTFO, is he worried that he can't get the judges and referee of his choice, etc. To summarise: Why does he retire now he has so much to gain by winning the rematch.
Taking some family to the airport so i have a bit of free time. I watched the fight in slow motion. Here are some results. First 2 rounds were fairly clean boxing, where Ward was getting beat clearly. Round 3 Ward clinches at 2:06, 1:57, 1:09, :26. Also in round 3 Ward comes raging in with his head at 1:26! BLATANT FOUL Round 4 at 2:50, AT 2:25 Ward gets hit by the jab then comes under and holds. At 2:03 Ward throws an elbow. At 1:55 Ward throws another wild elbow. At 1:10 Ward comes in with his head blatantly. At 1:02 Ward comes in crazy with his head, trying to open a cut or who knows what else. Round 5 at 2:20. Kov hits Ward with a jab, Ward then grabs Kov in a headlock. Round 5 at 2:00 Ward throws a right hand and then comes in with his head trying to butt Kov. Wheres the point deduction at this point?? Round 5 still, at 1:32 Ward throws a dirty elbow yet again. At 1:08 in the round Ward bullrushes Krusher, with his head. So disgusting. At :21 Ward throws a right hand jab and goes for the grab??? Round 6 at 2:32 Ward throws a jab then grabs. Then proceeds to grab Kovs leg and tackles him??? What sport is this? Where is the ref. Worst ive ever seen. At 2:04 Ward jabs, grabs then headbutts. Foul no 7 in my book. At 1:26 Ward gets hit with a countershot, then tries to headbutt but kov gets out the way. At :44 Kov stuffs Wards headbutt attempt. Another clinch from Ward at :27. Round 7 at 2:52 Ward hits in the clinch, lowblows. At 2:27 Ward bullrushes with his head. Ward effectively has 3 weapons in this fight. His right, left and head. MEAN HEAD BUTT AT 2:02. At 1:30 jab and grab. Thats it for now. I consider myself a fair member of this forum. If my guy loses he loses. These dudes dont pay my bills. Just this fight really pssd me off due to the constant fouling and illegal tactics of andre.
