Dude. Floyd gave Castillo a rematch right away. He also gave Maidana a rematch 4 months after their first fight. Its been 4 months and we have silence from Andre. Im not biased at all. Im actually supporting Jacobs to beat GGG, just because everyones written him off. I like to go against the grain, just my nature. As for family vs fighters, thats a complete non-sequitur. Ward can agree to a rematch at a date in advance and permit Krusher to fight someone else while still getting a chance to fight for his titles.
lol To say something is "excessive" is an opinion, not a fact. I am an attorney also and I recognize that what people see depends on their viewpoint. If you want to rationalize Kovalev's loss by saying that Ward fought a dirty fight, that's cool. The way I saw it was that the bully got bullied. We can agree to disagree about how Ward got his victory.
Ok, firstly Floyd wasn't in his early-mid 30's at that time, Floyd didn't have 4 children in his family including one that was born RECENTLY!!! Ward even said before the fight that his body needs rest Before he actually returns and makes a decision, should we not give the man the benefit of the doubt? Low blows (being a line encircling the body at the level of the navel). 2. Use of elbows, shoulders or forearms. 3. Butting with the head. 4. Hitting in the back of the head (rabbit punch). 5. Striking the kidneys or back. 6. Hitting with the inside of the glove (slapping). 7. Hitting with the back of the hand. 8. Striking with the knees, feet or any part of the legs. 9. Holding the ring ropes to hit with the other hand. 10. Hitting the opponent when part of his body is out of the ropes. 11. Hitting an opponent when he is down or getting up from the canvas. 12. Leaving the neutral corner and striking the opponent before the referee’s instructions. 13. Excessive holding the opponent or maintaining a clinch. 14. Striking after the referee’s order to “break” or “stop”. 15. Stepping on the opponent. 16. Holding the opponent’s head or body with one hand while hitting with the other. 17. Using the open hand to position or rub the glove on the opponent’s face. 18. Thumbing the opponent’s eyes. 19. Striking after the bell. 20. Crouching the body below the opponent’s belt defensively or to strike. 21. Biting or spitting on the opponent. 22. Abusing an official or using abusive or profane language. 23. Throwing objects. 24. Failing to obey the referee’s commands. 25. Turning one’s back on and walking or running away from the other boxer. 26. Spitting out the mouthpiece. 27. Cutting or mutilating the gloves. 28. Any rough tactics other than clean punches. 29. During a round, a boxer’s seconds entering the ring or stepping on the ring apron. I've highlighted the rules that Ward repeatedly and excessively broke in the fight. Per the rules of boxing, Ward should have been, at least, deducted a point, and worse, disqualified for his conduct. I rest my case!
I agree he'll still be HoF if he retires now, but unless he's completely lost his love for the sport he ought to rematch Kovalev. Because retiring for a while just to avoid the rematch, then coming back against someone else, would be a cowardly move. Yes, if he wants a longer vacation, fine, but he should do a deal so that Kovalev can fight someone in the meantime without losing the rematch as long as he wins. But as far as I know (ESPN) they're already working on a June rematch ... so the fuss seems much ado about nothing.
I agree with that ... but I also do agree that Ward's style is borderline fouling, right on the edge of what he can get away with:

How many fouls in the Thurman Garcia fight? Or the May-PAC? Canelo Cotto? Martinez Chavez, Degale Jack, Oscar Trinidad? Most fights are clean. A few fighters are known for being dirty. When Ward fought Barrera, Brand, and Smith, he was beating them easy and boxed like a normal boxer. He did the same with Kov the first 2 rounds. After he realized that he was going to get dropped again he pulled out his plan B and reverted to his tactics. Any fair ref would have penalized Ward for his conduct. When I watched Ward Barrera I was impressed because Ward beat him fair and square. Let's see how he performs in the rematch.
What's a dirty fight is a matter of opinion. I thought Mares fought a dirty fight in his first fight with Agbeko and Salido fought a dirty fight with Lomachenko. I didn't think that Ward fought a dirty fight against Kovalev but that's just my opinion.
Ward blatantly fouls. Watch the Kessler fight. It was a traversty to let him get away with those headbutts. Yet it's known as one of his better wins. He's had refs and hometown bias most of his career. How can he call himself SOG? Regardless, just make the fight or retire. Kovalev has a family too.
Wow tell it like it is why don't you,very true though,SOB can box when he wants to like against Barrera but in all the big fights he stinks the joint out and goes on about double standards,news flash Floyd Mayweather whilst defensive never won by stepping in a boxing ring and wrestled his opponent for twelve rounds. Ward seems confident he will take off where he left off against Kovalev and why wouldn't he be he's ver good at it and the refs never take action against this kind of thing anyway,after the flash knockdown and looking inferior in a boxing setting for two rounds he reverted to what he knows best and now we know why. Think he'll do the rematch but he's gonna flesh out the diva some more
