GGG, unstoppable?

Nobody is unstoppable. Calzaghe didn't fight any top level guys when they were in their prime. And Marciano didn't either. If you wanted to see Marciano stopped, he would have had to have the balls to continue calling for a comeback championship bout. He intended to come back to fight Floyd Patterson, but when Liston destroyed Patterson, Marciano felt it would be safer to stay retired.

 

Depends on the circumstances. Marciano's best wins were old Joe Louis, light heavyweight Ezzard Charles, who had already lost twice to Jersey Joe Walcott, old Jersey Joe Walcott, and old Archie Moore. There are no prime top level killers on Marciano's resume. He wanted to come out of retirement to fight Patterson for the title, but lost interest in a comeback when Liston destroyed Patterson.

As far as Calzaghe, his best win is controversial decision over a 43 year old man. He faced no prime top level killers either, and chose to retire, instead of facing a prime young lion in Chad Dawson, who brought an undefeated record, as well as quality wins, over Adamek, and Johnson to the table.

 

I'm not crucifying him, just pointing out facts. Guys aged much faster in the ring back then as well.

The fact that he talked of coming back out of retirement to face Patterson, but fell quiet when Liston destroyed Patterson, tells a bit of a tale as well.

 

Golovkin fighting a guy with 65 wins would be an improvement over the trash he has been facing. It's bad when guys like Wade, Monroe, Rubio, Geale, Macklin, Rosado etc. are getting title shots, because there is absolutely no quality in the division. Jacobs is the first legit guy he has lined up.
