Here's some crazy things I've heard in the past 2 years about GGG. -He's the greatest MW of all time. -He'd destroy let alone beat Hopkins, Hagler, Roy Jones.(dude wouldn't even beat Toney, PLEASE) -He'd KILL mayweather at 154! GGG was exposed badly. Is he a bum? No, he's obviously an elite fighter, and one of the best fighters right now. But his MW era is SUPER weak. His resume consisted of C level bums, and a good WW who jumped 2 weight classes. Before GGG fought Jacobs I said I'd give GGG credit if he destroyed Jacobs, because I knew Jacobs was his first high level opponent. I saw GGG possibly blasting him out, but I knew if he didn't KO him that he'd look awful.
GGG is past his prime and still won that fight in many people's eyes vs a LHW The killer prime GGG from 5 years ago would have brutally destroyed Jacobs.
Even if it would be true: What do you benefit from your hate for a Korean/Slav boxer from Kazakhstan? Give Jacobs some props, he gave everything. It just wasn't enough. You haven't seen the fight in HD or were in the arena. He missed lots of punches and landed on Golovkin's gloves. Compare their faces.
ellerbe what are you talking about? GGG won clearly, that fight was not close, despite Jacobs putting a great effort. GGG was controlling the fight, Jacobs was not able to hurt him, despite being way heavier and had supossedly knockout punch, Jacobs was running from GGG in many rounds. GGG hit more and more accurate shots. There is nobody at the moment who will be able to put a fight to GGG. The one fight that will be very dangerous for GGG is Ward, that's it.
Yeah, Golovkin is obviously an excellent and powerful fighter with good technical pressure skills, but we have no evidence to go off of to consider him a great fighter. None at all. From what I saw tonight (and I realize all of the great ones have their occasional struggles against supposedly lesser competition), he's isn't a historical stand-out. I couldn't see him beating the likes of Hopkins, Toney, McCallum, Nunn, Kalambay, etc. if we're just talking recent middleweight greats. A fight with somebody like the 2007 Kelly Pavlik would have been incredible. That's the level I see him at or around to be honest. And it's a fight he may very well have lost.
Hate? I'm just stating what I've seen for years. People didn't agree. GGG is one of my favorite boxers, win or lose. And I thought he lost today. I saw the fight on a 50 inch tv in HD shithead. Stop projecting, just becaue you saw it on some shitty stream doesn't mean that everyone else did too. We get most boxing PPVS for free in Japan if you're subscribed to WOWOW which is basically Japan's HBO.
I am a GGG fan and i thought he got a gift decision. I also was drinking and waiting for the fireworks that never really came.......so false expectations may have lead me to a false conclusion, so ima just wait to see the rematch.
