Anybody still feel Golovkin vs. Pirog in 2012 would have been 50-50?

Also, Pirog wasn't really a boxer who's very effective on the backfoot, he was more of a frontfoot fighter in a similar vein that GGG is, so he'd either have to give up being the aggressor which would play to his disadvantage and he'd have to somehow outbox GGG, I don't see that happening, he simply doesn't have the footspeed for it.

Or he'd have to win the mid-range exchanges and earn GGG's respect enough to set him on the backfoot, possible but unlikely. If he manages to do this consistently throughout the whole fight, then maybe....

Fair but he sparked Jacobs against whom many are saying Golovkin received a gift.

Nobody thought Pirog got a gift over Ishida. He shut him out.

Golovkin won clearly the stats prove it

Golovkin also was 35 would love to see how pirog would be at the age of 35

Can not comment, haven't seen the fight. It seems to be a consensus however that Jacobs was at the very least EXTREMELY competitive if not deserving of the nod. Ishida wasn't.

    ...and yeah so would I.

Also nobody has even remotely suggested in recent memory before last night that GGG was so much as losing a step. He's fresh and hasn't been in wars. He's still effectively in his prime (time will tell if last night heralded the beginning of the end of it)

pirog at his bets and golovkin at his best Golovkin would knock him out

The golovkin today is clearly not at his best he is 35 years old

ishida was competitive against pirog though

Neither do I! Pirog would have probably beaten all abovementined names but not as easily and dominantly as GGG did.

Anyway! Pirog vs GGG would have been a hell of a fight then.I can still remember Pirog beautiful fights against Michell,Judah or against Kodzoev.
And lets not forget that Pirog beat a fighter in his 3rd pro fight who had gone the full route with guys like Eastman,Gevor and Karmazin and made them sweat.
After Tatevosyan lost to Pirog he went to Denmark where he beat the big favourite Markussen in his hometown in front of his hometown crowd.Damn! Pirog defeated Tatevosyan in his 3rd pro fight.Totally amazing it was!

In today's boxing a healthy Pirog would play in the same league with GGG,Jacobs, and Canelo. However, destiny has had a different plan for him.

People watch Pirog's fights post Jacobs and under rate him. Jacobs was the last fight where Pirog's back wasn't a significant issue. He fought injured every fight afterward. It hindered his punching, and his defensive movements. After seeing the fight last night, and also some other fights like the Ouma fight. I'd slightly favor Pirog to beat Golovkin, if Pirog is totally healthy.

And Jacobs was hurt more than the flash knockdown that Golovkin scored by stepping on Jacobs foot last night. Does that mean that Mora hits harder than Golovkin? No.

Honestly it seemed like most of Jacobs hard shots upstairs were landing in the ear area, behind the glove of Golovkin. He didn't land enough solid shots right on the chin for us to see how good Golovkin's chin is.

Considering the spine issues he performed incredibly well after Jacobs.

I rate the dominant win over Maciel in particular very highly.
