People forgeting Golovkin is 35 years old?

He is 35. But it doesn't take a scholar to see that mass opinion is anything but clear that he won. Quit the propaganda while you're behind.

Golovkin defo past it. Pity Canelo won't face a better version of GGG. That's what's wrong with boxing.

Not clearly unfortunately, it could have gone either way. Problem is that GGG is held to a really hard standard due to the hype so even an average level performance against somebody like Jacobs is not a good look for him.

 

He's 35 next month but nobody seems to care. You can't stop aging.

No excuses gentlemen. GGG won the match but his image as a monster is dead. This proves a lot of theories about his level of competition and his match making over the past 4 1/2 years.
People saying that he was better than historical Middleweight who have proven their worth in the sport.
People were saying how he would KO Ward, a man that could not be KO'd by a bigger man in Kovalev.
All this hype around Golovkin being the "Great Hope" has been shattered by a welterweight and a so called "weak chinned" Danny Jacobs.
When these PPV numbers come out HBO better lie to the public but believe that Canelo and GBP will know the truth. K2 is going to get jerked by GBP. All this excuses about his age now is bull****. You wanted a 40 year old Floyd to fight GGG just a few days ago, shout out to Gannicus who made that thread.
Golovkin is the best fundamental fighter in boxing and that was his reckoning. He was predictable and he could not adjust to Jacobs switch hitting (which I was questioning until the 10th round).
This puts all of Abel Sanchez's BS talk about Ward in the toilet, his talk about Kovalev in the toilet, his talk about draining to 154 in the toilet, Abel is a hypejob trainer.

I have no beef with GGG , he does what he is suppose to do. Triple G is used by racist and against racist, but the man is a man, he is NO GOD!!!

I thought he won, but 2014 GGG version would have stopped Jacobs. He is still king of middleweight division, but age is starting to catch him definitely.

Jacobs gave good count of himself. I expect him to move 168 quite soon. He looked so much bigger than Golovkin.

 

Not sure he's past it, I think it's a combination of GG being past his peak (but not 'past it' in the sense I think you mean) and finally taking on an elite level fighter. Add to the that the fact this may well have been the first fight in GG's career when he hasn't had most of the physical advantages, and the close decision starts to make more sense. I thought he won a close fight he would have won more decisively a couple of years ago, and can see why Canelo is taking the view the longer he can make GG wait for their fight, the better his chances of winning. That's boxing, that's business.

I think we can dispel the myth he would walk through the 168 division (he'd be competitive though), and he can forget about LHW, despite what it is said he does when he spars with LHWs when they are practising. GG is a excellent MW, nothing more, nothing less and there's no shame in that.
