That was his last prime fight. For a couple fights after that he was near his prime. But now he's clearly over the hill now. Taking nothing away from Jacobs, but GGG is over the hill.

You can take his career and have two parts. The post Lemiuex version and the pre Lemiuex version. He looks different. Now it's night and day.

He does seem to be slipping, since the Monroe fight he seems to have lost the speed and snap to his punches. He's still obviously very heavy handed but a lot of his punches to me seem like arm punches at the moment.

As a GGG fan I was a bit disappointed in hus performance last night, he never seemed to get out of 1st gear.

He wasted his prime and much of his career relative to what it could have been with the promotional, financial, network, and media backing that he had. Always said you guys will be shocked at how mortal he will seem when he finally faces some elite guys, since it took him so long to do so and it's not like he fought Proksa when he was 23 years old.

That said, I think one of the issues here is how much everyone underrated Jacobs along with overrating Golovkin.

Anyone know how much DJ weighed on fight night?

He looked a division bigger in there.

He has been fighting better opposition that's why he seems to be slipping. Yes he is 35 but when you fight better boxers, fights will be closer. You can be super dominant as if you are fighting C class fighters

If you truly want to see ggg in his prime and in absolute beast mode watch his 13th fight against Amari, ggg was 26 and I'll freely admit he was much greater BEFORE Abel jumped on board.

Abel only trains strictly for ko shots, prior to Abel he was literally light years faster and so much more fluid

He looked anywhere from 185-190. Just massive.

He was 191 but he'll never admit it, CA could eventually let it slip. He's in dire need of a move to 68

It was 191 or 197, I'll have to look into it again, one of those #'s is fact, just can't confirm atm. Inclined to go with 91 to give benefits to DJ

Not forgetting his age at all.
I recall saying years ago, that I felt Froch was past his best years before he had some of his big fights but nobody listened because he beat Bute. Now Golovkin has got arguably his best decision and people note his age because of the competitiveness. Nobody would be saying it if the fight hadnt been competitive
