Finally found time to watch the fight. Disappointed a bit, I expected it to be a lot easier for Golovkin, but oh well, boxing...

Why Golovkin didn't press forward after the KD I'll never know but that's when he signed for all the trouble that came afterwards. Good jab throughout the fight, movement and timing still there, but he came across as somewhat passive at times, over-confident perhaps (or confused?).

Props to Jacobs, all the flashy moves and low-ish blows aside, solid performance. He really is a brave dude, 0 Fs given after the KD, even managed to disarm G in 6th (Hit&run style but that still counts). I was really impressed by his performance in second half of the fight, he showed a lot of heart and desire to win, something not really seen in other GGGs opponents, specially after they have been on the ground.

Not sure why all the "Jacobs won" **** is going on though, no way he won 6 rounds and even if he did, there's a KD. Close fight? Maybe. Definitely closer than expected or should've been IMO.
Still think that Golovkin will be beaten by someone who's 1.fast 2.packs a punch and 3.comes to win. Jacobs meets all 3 + he's bigger but came up short this time. Eager to see a rematch.

On a side note, that girl between the ref and G before the score was announced... damn

Compu-Box counted Jacobs landing 175 times.

You say "I don't think Jacobs landed more then 60-70shots."

If you counted. What was your count? 60? 65? 70?

Or did you not count at all?

i felt like jacobs was giving ggg all kinds of free shots after the knockdown which was more of a slip/push/clash of feet, in an effort to get him to gas. so in effect ggg did press forward after the KD its just that he wasn't able to hurt or catch him clean. jacobs seemed to have all the physical tools(size, chin,) and game plan(fight off back foot, switch stances) to confuse and never really let ggg get his groove going.

ggg didn't get his big ko or "break jacobs down" for a tko and he didn't have a dominating, convincing victory against a B- fighter so the only "winner" last night was jacobs.

I was impressed on Jacobs performance, he´s a tough dude. Golovkin had a great defense (I was very pleased to see how he slipped those bombs) and had still good timing, but he was a bit passive for his own standards.

I score it to 115-112 for Golovkin.

First time viewing I was disappointed with GGG thought he looked bad

Second viewing I thought he looked great always kept composure and balance kept the jab on him all night and showed great defense.

Amazing how second viewings can be so different

I believed in the monster power hype but maybe he just doesn't punch like McClellan or Jackson. That affected my view of the fight the first time

Jacobs had a great game plan and his corner was masterful, it reminded me of montell griffins gameplan in the first RJJ fight

Jacobs hit the gloves all night. 60-70 can surely be much closer the truth than 175.

In all due respect, Jackson was a great puncher, as is Golovkin, but neither has gone to 168-175 to knock people out. The hype is getting out of proportion. If Jackson had that kind of monster power, he would have moved to 175 and do the damage there.
