My GGG 'invincible powerhouse' doubts crept in during the Adama fight, and truly set in stone whilst watching GGG tire trying to put Martin Murray on the canvas. He seems to look unstoppable against a certain type of fighter, yet pretty mediocre against others.

Don't think Golovkin will be in a hurry to fight him again. Jacobs taller and rangy and he seemed to have trouble with it all night. Canelo will be a completely different fight.

 

Jacobs was big, strong, well prepared and fought a clever fight. GGG made hard work of it, but prevailed and moves to 37-0.

So he's old now. 2 days ago he was this unstoppable god, now at 34 he's too old. A 34 year old Hopkins would've made GGG look about 94. Second solid fighter that could actually box made GGG look limited, but the first was a WW. G has been so used to people coming in with no game plan an folding that he looked lost at times when Jacobs actually circled and was big and long enough to fight back. So much for GGG dominating 168 and up, he'd look average against the best there, and that's why he'll stay at 160 till retirement.

 

I thought Roy Jones blitzed his way to 50-0 . Even picking up a HW strap along the way without too much struggle.

Obviously he got a bogus DQ loss at 34- 0 . He over turned that in a spectacular one round ending manner.

 

Is Jacobs and a Welterweight in Brook really that big a step up though from Geale, Lemiuex, Proksa, Murray, etc. His last 3 fights he's looked noticeably slower and sluggish. Actually he was masking his physical decline which actually started around 4-5 years ago very well. But now he's just much slower, much less explosive than he used to be. He still has that brute strength, jab, chin and technique. But the 3rd gear is gone now.

 

Actually Hopkins started looking "old" right around the time he turned 35. Hopkins turned into a complete spoiler from age 35 on. In his actual prime mid-late 90s he was more aggressive, less cautious, more explosive, faster, vastly bigger gas tank, etc. Everything was better. So um, yea.... no

 

He may stay undefeated if he goes back down in levels but if I was some of the athletic guys I think the blueprint is there to beat him. So Eubank, Lara, Andrade (not the one that fought Culcay lol) should all be taking real notice.
