regardless of how anyone judged the fight, no one in their right mind should have gave Triple Fraud 4 of the first 5 rounds as the judges did
I did and I thought it was pretty easy to score. Round 2,3,4,5 Ggg:,2,3,4,5,9,12 Jacobs 1,6,7,8,11 Was my card.
I am really surprised to see so many of you giving GGG the 12th as a clear round. The only meaningful shots in that round were landed by Jacobs around the middle of the round, in two flurries. I agree that GGG had very few clean rounds, although I think the 4th, the 5th and the 9th were clear enough. In all fairness, GGG has won at least 4-5 rounds, so you can really make a case for him edging it, but you have to be generous. Jacobs did not have that many clear rounds either, maybe the 6th, 10th, 11th. The first 3 rounds were close, the 12th was close, the 7th and the 8th were also close.
The best summary I have seen posted, I only disagree with Round 12. Golovkin looked to me more of a beaten and exhausted fighter in that round and Jacobs landed the only decisive power shots (the ones you mention 1:15-1:00). Anything else was messy or inaccurate. 114-113 either way is fair. Maybe scoring one round 114-114 and calling it a draw would have been the most reasonable outcome.
Round 1: 10-9 Golovkin Round 2: 10-9 Jacobs Round 3: 10-9 Jacobs Round 4: 10-8 Golovkin Round 5: 10-9 Golovkin Round 6: 10-9 Jacobs Round 7: 10-9 Jacobs Round 8: 10-9 Jacobs Round 9: 10-9 Golovkin Round 10: 10-9 Jacobs Round 11: 10-9 Jacobs Round 12: 10-9 Jacobs 115-112 Jacobs
Did all 3 judges do that? That's disgraceful. They were close rounds with not much happening, but you have to argue to give Jacobs at least 1 of the first 3 rounds, maybe even 2.
But what did Jacobs really do the first three? None of them did all that much. And I'm not really seeing universal agreement on the first three based on quite a few of these cards, I mean the first round there was maybe a jab difference between the two. The eleventh I'm probably in disagreement with most people and I'd say I'd watch it again and rescore but I'm to lazy. I just recall seeing GGG catch a lot of shots in the exchanges whereas Jacobs wasn't really catching many of Golovkins. Might be wrong tho. Who knows! Anyways, the joy of boxing, where everyone has their own interpretations!
how did you give Jacobs the 1st round and not the 2nd when he did MORE in the 2nd round? hahahah. See, this is the stuff I'm talking about.
I'll post this in here. Alright yesterday I might have been a little influenced by my peers who I was watching the fight with and under the influence as well. I thought Danny put up a wide scorecard but after rewatching the fight minutes ago, I have to say it was a very close fight. I saw GGG doing the better work early, but seemed to fade in the middle and later rounds. I don't know what I can truly contribute that to, other than GGG finally being in a fight with someone who was the best he's ever fought. GGG didn't look like he knew what to do when Jacobs would do a little switch hitting. At times he looked confused, and once Jacobs got his confidence he looked to be gaining the momentum, which he did. He wasn't afraid of GGG and I think that could have played a role on GGG'S psyche going into the championship rounds. Great performance from Jacobs, but I'm not buying into the excuse that GGG is now "over the hill"... 1.) GGG 2.)GGG 3.)Jacobs 4.)GGG 5.)GGG 6.)Jacobs 7.)Jacobs 8.)Jacobs 9.)GGG 10.)Jacobs 11.)Jacobs 12.)Jacobs My final score is: 114-113 Daniel Jacobs. Now the 12 round which alot of people gave to GGG I have to disagree on. I think both fighters were title 4 tat in the first minute of the round, but then Jacobs just started out working GGG with body shots and quick combos on the inside and also finished the round strong. So that's why I gave Jacobs that round. He just looked to do the better work that round and took advantage of GGG trying to land that big shot, which he missed several times. Very good fight!
a lot of people here must of been watching the fight on 240p streams and couldn't see the beautiful jabs that golovkin was peppering jacobs with all night, golovkin outlanded him by a landslide in the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th round especially. go watch the 5th round again, golovkin massacres him in that round right after knocking him down in the 4th. it was more competitive in the second half of the fight but in the first 5 rounds jacobs was dominated. after 5 rounds jacobs is 6 points down, he has to clean sweep the remaining 7 rounds to win it from there, in fairness to jacobs he did win 3 of the remaining 7 rounds. 117 - 110 gennady golovkin. the only robbery was the amount of rounds the judges gave jacobs...
