I'm kind of astonished that GG and Jacobs are being criticized over

I'm glad I'm not the only who feels this way. I thought this fight would be competitive from the start. I knew Jacobs was a good fighter.

I didn't write Jacobs win off as luck but rather a determined Jacobs catching Quillin while he still had nerves. But at the same time I was one of the few who thought Jacobs would win that fight from the start. It didn't happen the way I imagined it though.

What 8 round do some of y'all have triple G winning?

OP the reason the reaction is the way it is all 100% a derivative of how Triple G was hyped as unbeatable killer with insane power and insane boxing skills. While it turns out he's just an okay boxer with good power, who's been facing C+ opponents.

Blizzy...this is a very good breakdown and also incredibly objective. Good post. Been a lot of spiel from both supporters/haters of both fighters. Glad someone kept it real.

That's a good point raised above actually...we can rule out the Quillin fight as a fluke now too, Jacobs showed he's the goods

Because he was switching Orthodox to Southpaw moving laterally and boxing against triple G he didn't have the goods before?

Danny Jacobs is a very good MW but he's not P4P top 20 or anything like that. He OUTBOXED Triple G, took his power shots, and outlanded Triple G power wise. He looked like his normal self, Triple G got his exposal card pulled, and just like many of us had been saying, he's not as great as advertised.

The Great killer couldn't get out of gear 1 against a 82/100 fighter. That's what it comes down to. Triple G needs to run that back ASAP.

I think it was a great close fight and give both fighters credit , but i think most ppl calling GGG out is mostly on the back of claims he can go up to LHW and be competitive , the fight showed he will be in a world of trouble vs the top 168 guys at his current form (be at age or absolute level) , One thing that will be interesting is Jacobs , if he goes far then this GGG will be a great win as he beat him in his prime.

Because he done it against a better fighter than he;s ever faced before, so it confirms he's more the goods than I initially thought.

I scored it for GGG (by a point), so I disagree that either guy got outboxed. he took most of his power shots really well - minus the one which put him on the floor. Golovkin's jab won the fight for me and I thought a lot of Jacobs' power shots were blocked.

You're right, he didn't really get out of gear one but it's down to you if that's because Golovkin just isn't that good or Jacobs was underrated and got his tactics spot on. I'm not personally in the business of saying a fighter is suddenly exposed because they had a close fight with the second best in their division. If Saunders or Canelo beta him or give make it a real close fight like this, then I'll accept he's a very good fighter but not a great one. Just my opinion. I believe these career defining fights have started coming at the wrong end of his career too but it is what it is, I can't change that.

Lol you weren't one of the few, I picked Jacobs too, and bet vcash on it. It was pretty much 50/50, Quillin was not the overwhelming favorite, remember he was coming off looking AWFUL against Lee.

This was a very close fight and made me respect Jacobs as a fighter a lot more than I did before. Bow down to these warriors.

Man Blizz you are really getting cranked up now. Great post, love the objectivity, I could listen to that all day...

Yes a lot of so-called experts on here give themselves away with their comments. A competitive fight between two good fighters can often result in a clash where there is a lot of neutralizing, so neither can impose their superiority in a manner so convincing that any blind fanboy could spooge over it.

Yeah sometimes close fights are ugly, that takes more effort to appreciate
