Leonard would be in over his head at middleweight with GGG. Hagler had slipped, the Mugabi fight exposed it. Ray would showboat and win some early rounds but GGG would walk him down.

 

Agreed, Hagler's war with Mugabi exposed his slippage. I think more than anything that's why Marvin retired, he knew the time was right.

 

Leonard simply wasn't a true middleweight and was already well past his prime once he ascended there. Pound for pound Ray was leagues better than GGG, but that isn't the reality in an actual head to head match...
