It was amazing for a round and a half that he truly dominated in, the other rounds he won barely, and it was good but, like I said Kovalev kept most of the rounds close and Ward honest enough for it to be consistent. Its not quite what the trollish TS is trying to make it seem.
Ward was active on the inside and you could see his success rate went up as he was able to get inside more without Kovalev headlocking him instantly.
Of course he didn't have as much success in my opinion Kovalev would beat Froch and Kessler. However not having as much success isn't equivalent to having little or no success.
Kovalev was effective, at least early, with the "headlock" strategy. But as the fight wore on Ward had more success to the body. It was still modest, but in a close fight it made a difference.
Completely agree. The Ward haters love to disregard Kovalev constant headlocking but then moan about how dirty Ward is. These guys want it both ways, well you can't have it like that.
Kovalev the big bad monster who was going to knock out little Andre Ward cold within three rounds suddenly became ... Kovalev, poor "snowflake", victim of big bad mean Andre Ward's rough-housing. The ultimate bully was bullied by the little guy who fought back.
Yep spot on, when the fight was announced many of them predicted a stoppage after the fight they said Kovalev was so comfortable he stopped tryna knock out Ward and basically let Ward win the majority of the later rounds. But this time when they rematch he will knock out Ward and not let it go to judges scorecards. Absolute bullsh*t he couldn't knockout Ward if he wanted to.
they tried pullin the same stuff after hopkins "oh he could have knocked hopkins out but he wanted to go some rounds...oh he prob felt bad for hopkins"...blah blah.....sad excuses...just delusional this group is
Nothing I said there was untrue. Most of this so called "great body work" from Ward was the ineffective garbage you see limited guys like Baldomir utilize against Mayweather or Tex Cobb would use to make it look like he's doing something other than eating punches. Touching jabs and arm punches while clinching. But because it's Andre Ward and people are desperate to justify the universally panned decision, basic "I got nothing else" offense is being stretched into some strategic masterclass. And Kovalev landed more meaningful blows to the body, I stand by that.
Kovalev is a killer literally, he ain't in the business of carrying fighters, if he can get you out of there he will. He couldn't coz Andre was too skilled, just like Andre couldn't dominate him because Kovalev was too skilled.
yup....anybody who suggests kovalev carried hopkins or ward should be shot...literally.....north korean firing squad even if they are trying to be funny/trolling it does just a disservice to this sport we follow and like
He was active on the inside like Briggs was active on the inside against Vitali. "Grab and smack the body" offense in the clinch that usually goes unnoticed for good reason.
