As good as ward is the one fighter I COULD see outpointing him was Calzaghe.
Certainly possible anyone that just says no way ward would easily beat him is talking nonsense.

You are comparing prime Ward to old end of career Calzaghe. The way Ward struggled with Kovalevs boxing, I could only see Calzaghe winning and remember it would be at SMW and not LHW where old Calzaghe was having his first fight at the weight in a championship fight

Why would you say that? Ward entered and did not travel abroad, also why would it be too risky? If we look at the closest amount of opponents Ward and Calzaghe had, just look at it and tell me how Calzaghe didnt take more risks

    Wards S6 opponents
    Kessler already beaten by Calzaghe
    Allen
    Bika already beaten by Calzaghe
Abraham on a run of 1-2
    Froch

Compare that to Calzaghe with the same 2 opponents
    Lacy undefeated champ
    Bika
    Manfredo
    Kessler undefeated and prime
    Hopkins (abroad)

calzaghe prob does quite well....maybe even wins.....ward and dirrell would have been interesting....altough i think wards prime was spent on the shelf it would have been real interesting to see them prime v prime...wouldnt be suprised if either won

Froch's only chance against Calzaghe is if Calzaghe goes all macho and stands in the centre of the ring trading bombs - and even then, there's as much chance of Froch getting ktfo as Calzaghe. Couldn't see that happening, as Calzaghe was too smart in the ring. Calzaghe by landslide points decision - makes Froch look like an amateur.

Even then if they were standing trading, I would favour calzaghe. Froch had looked more hurt in his career against groves and dirrell than I ever thought calzaghe looked in his.
I would favour prime and past prime versions of calzaghe to win the s6

I disagree. There were two young prime athletic, slick American's in it with good boxing ability, size, and handspeed.

Yeah was gonna say probably wins it but it would of been hard to get past Ward,in his prime and at his dirtiest he'd of been so tough to beat, safe to say it would of gone all twelve anyway?

Yes going down in the 2nd and getting up to win was worthy of a champion, don't like the spoiler stuff myself but it does win him all the big fights.

stylistically i think dirrell beats him. and ward vs joe c is stylistically to me is a toss up but im leaning towards ward.

joe c most likely comes in 2nd but possible 3rd . even 1st is possible but i think ward will win pretty much every time no matter who is in it around these modern times.

Calzaghe can go toe to toe with froch no problem. Froch fights in bursts Joe doenst stop for one second which is why he was so effective . It can be disheartening having someone stuck to you like glue even if your bashing the hell out of them.

Never seen calzaghe on the back foot if he didn't want to be
