The real fight that Mayweather should take as his last fight to break Marciano's record is a rematch with Canelo at the MW limit.

    Reasons why:
    - Canelo is the current lineal MW champion, thus a win would make Floyd the lineal MW champion.
    - Canelo is the biggest draw in boxing outside of Mayweather.
    - Canelo has never lost to anyone other than Floyd and will likely be a shoe-in to the HOF when it's all said and done.
    - Canelo seems to be in his absolute prime. Absolutely no excuses possible.

    floyd would destroy him again,

ill say it for the 100th time, slow footed canelo isnt beaten anyone with the speed and ring IQ of floyd.

    thurman or brook only imo.

A fight with Golovkin would be the biggest match and pose the biggest risk.

Mayweather has already beaten the last two lineal middleweight champs (in Cotto and Alvarez) ... we've already seen those. Floyd would also be the favorite over every welterweight, and has won all those titles before, so any wins there wouldn't be seen as adding anything to his resume.

If Floyd beat the undefeated Golovkin who is considered the best middleweight alive right now, and holder of nearly all the belts, that would be epic.

The only other option would be Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., if he beats Canelo. (Which I think Chavez will, for some reason.)

Mayweather-Chavez Jr. would be a monster PPV. And the families have a history. Chavez Sr. beat Uncle Roger in two title fights.

So either Golovkin, Chavez Jr. ... or just stay retired. He's got nothing left to prove anyway.

    Floyd's an all-time great.

Thurman is the best option if he wants #50 to be special.

Nah. Floyd should fight a 40 year old Welter that's been inactive for 2 years and then call it a day.

Right. And I don't think fighting any welterweights would.

He should either come back in a big way with a monster fight, or just stay retired.

Losing in a seemingly lesser challenge or not looking good against a lesser opponent wouldn't help him at all.

It's like Sugar Ray Leonard. He was retired. He came back against Kevin Howard, and he got knocked down, and even though he won people just sort of looked the other way and said, "That was kind of a mistake."

When he came back again, he came back big against Hagler.

Go big or go home (or in Floyd's case, stay home).

Don't sign to fight a guy everyone thinks you're going to beat, or any wins will be met with a shrug like the Andre Berto fight was.

Floyd really shouldn't be fighting anyone, he's done. If
he were to come back to box, the only acceptable
    opponents are Thurman or Golovkin.

Basically he needs to stay retired

The Golovkin fight makes sense at 154. I don't really want to see any other fight. I can't see anyone at 147-154 troubling Mayweather.

Its a pathetic fight most likely. But only thing worth mentioning is Floyd is getting OLDER and Canelo is getting better. The chance for Canelo to outbox him, maybe 5% chance. But the chance for a big punch to put that bum out for good, probably 20-30% better chance then last time they met.

But the real fight is Floyd vs GGG at 154lbs. Even in losing I would give Floyd mad respect for finally meeting a legit threat and finally a fight Floyd isn't the heavy favorite going into. Nobody can say for certain which way it would go. BUT, we all know Floyd won't take risks and fight live opponents.
