GGG is becoming the new Calzaghe..

A large proportion of the online demographic (boxing fan-base) seem to have had a collective nervous breakdown over GGG.. So much so it has shades of JC in the mid 00's! Why is this? They both seem to have taken up a large section of the head space of 1000's of posters in a manner that cannot be healthy surely? 37-0..

GGG has taken over the boxing word and p4P#1 spot just like sir Joe calzaghe.

 

yeah...cept joe fought shot MWs at the end of his career...not in the prime of it....

 

The problem is Calzaghe's resume is much better than GGG's and I was a big Calzaghe fan with GGG not so much.

Never cared for Calzaghe .
His stoppage of Manfredo was one of the biggest jokes I've ever seen in boxing.

 

More like it was the only time they were willing to face Calzaghe. Also who are these MWs? One turned pro as a CW and the other had fought at HW.

Calzaghe did make alot of posters insecure with the fact that when he was faded, at the end of his career and bloated, he went up in weight and beat American legends Hopkins and Jones as well as beating the mini Tyson called Lacy. Calzaghe really did cause upset with alot of posters. Maybe GGG is doing similar

 

I picked Lacy only because I had never seen Calzaghe fight. Had I seen him fight no way in hell would I have picked Lacy. I'm a big fan of Calzaghe he's hated and underrated on this forum by many. He had a great ring IQ very skillful and would have been great in any era he's the GOAT at 168.

If you were a big fan, you would know the fights and who and what the opposition had done and their standing at the times.

I came on ESB as not a big Calzaghe fan (a fan all the same) but as someone who knew the era and the SMWs of that time. Correcting ignorance on the subject. Now no one would believe that (not that I care), but I do know the SMW division very well

 

His wins over Kessler and Lacy were very good. Kessler is much better than anyone GGG has ever fought and Lacy was considered a big favorite to beat him. Lacy was hyped to hell here in the US.

 

Complete joke but the fight was a mismatch to begin with designed to boost Calzaghe's popularity in the states because Manfredo was recently on the contender. Backfired maybe, but the fight was a mismatch was going to get stopped regardless.
