Jacobs was whiffing air and bouncing stuff off his back and gloves quite a lot. Slow the fight down and I think you'll see what I mean. I do think that I agree with you that as a slugger with a chin GM > DJ. McClellan had shattering power. I reckon you'd see Golovkin using the jab a hell of a lot to disrupt Gerald's offense and to create openings. Whether it would work is another matter. I haven't seen an awful lot of GM but what I saw was impressive.
My God. This is where the argument gets thin. The cast of GGG'S title challengers would've all been victims during the GMan's middleweight championship record reign of all first round ko's (Even if he only made 3 before moving up). Gerald was not only one of the hardest hitters of all time, Inch for inch p4p but he was also a very good boxer. In fact Manny once told me he was the greatest talent he ever trained. (Of course his opinion change the matter he got at Gerald)
Gerald is a "what if" story to me...had he stayed disciplined, he could've been special. As it stands, it looked more to me like his boxing IQ dropped and his falling in love with his power rose at the same rate as the unraveling of his personal life. King played in to this by generally feeding him knockout fodder and avoiding durable fighters (as well as great boxers)- there's a reason that the only world-rated middleweight McClellan fought was Julian Jackson despite Don having the power to match him better. I think GGG takes it over 12, with the jab being the critical component. In GGG, I see a more versatile fighter with the durability to last the distance. I've seen him win in different ways. I think McClellan would last too, but I think he runs out of answers if he can't get Golovkin out early. But hey, he had a monster body attack and I think GGG's more vulnerable to the body than head, so if someone wants to go with McClellan, no biggie. But I do think it'd be an upset.
Huge mw like McCellan who have huge punch and come in at LHW / CW have a unfair advantages against mw who come in at 170. GMac hit much harder than DJ and had underrated skills because his power and had extensive amatuer career including beating Jones jr. GMac comes out fast landing bombs on GGG and in a thrilling battle stops GGG in 5.
Look another GGG nut hugger. Jacobs didn't land his best punches or try to go for the KO. He was so afraid of being knocked out. Every thread about GGG you come too and do this. Are you gay? Do you have a thing for GGG? Clearly you do. Anyway Gerald by KO in less than 3 rounds.
just reports saying he was blinking heavy in training camp really. sparring having to be stopped because of it
His behavior was also getting more erratic and he was having headache problems before the Benn fight. G-Man took a lot of flush shots in Jackson I, but it's worth remembering he had much more mileage on him from sparring than his average level of pro opposition would've led one to believe.
Have not seen many full McLellan fights but he is obviously a fine athlete, world class with freak power which puts Golovkin's to shame. However I see GGG having big edge in stamina and chin as well as a wider array of punches and better footwork and jab to impose his offence. Golovkin KO 9
Golovkin would Smash Mclellan. Mclellan was a Slugger similiar to Lemieux , also his defense was terrible. Golovkin would knock him out in the 6th Round
Triple g never been down as amateur or pro. That's a testament to his boxing skills as well as his chin. I'll take the better boxer GGG. Good fight. I just think GGG will stick the Jab and keep the guard up and pick his spots until G-man's electric power fades a little. Then box him to decision win
Lemieux wouldn't see the third round if he was stupid enough to fight the G man, it would be a massacre. Have you seen his left hook to the body?
I didnt say Lemieux is on the same Level as him, i said they are both sluggers and therefore i cant see him win against Golovkin who has a great Chin and better boxing skills. Mclellan never fought anyone of Golovkins Level in his Career.
