2016 was obviously Canelos fault. Only a hardened GGG hater would disagree. 2017 is more fuzzy. Offers have been made. But the picture is unclear.
Canelo all the way, man. C'mon. First, there was a flat fee and no percentages. Then Oscar was considering a percentage. Now it's if Golovkin fights in June, the fight is off. GBP/Canelo literally acting the same way as Floyd did when he was ducking Pac.
How can you seriously ask this? There was no reason Canelo could not have fought GGG in May when he is fighting Chavez Jr.
There is a good chance we get Canelo/Golovkin in September or later in the year, the fight isn't dead in the water yet. If it doesn't happen I will blame Canelo/De La Hoya/Golden Boy Promotions because without knowing all the details behind the scenes, they are the side with form for F'ing around and shifting the goalposts.
That doesn't explain why Canelo dropped the belt and keeps trying to delay the fight. GGG vs Canelo should have happened a year and a half ago.
2016 is done and gone. This fight doesn't look like it's coming in 2017. By 2018 Canelo will have stalled GGG enough to beat him. If the fight doesn't happen this sept then it should never happen
It's either sept or never. The best date to sell the fight is cinco de mayo and Mexican Independence Day.
If GGG scrapes his BJS fight in Kazakhstan to please ODL I will be beyond pissed. There is no reason we can't have both.
Funny thing, at the moment the fight is actually less attractive as it was last year. And it will be completely dead if Chavez Jr beats Golden Boy's golden goose.
I hope it happens then in that case but if it doesn't I won't be too bothered. As a big fan of Golovkin I am far more interested in him becoming undisputed at 160 then moving up for a possible showdown with Andre Ward - a true mega fight.
Obviously this years problem is coming from GBP, just like last year and the year before that. This whole mess has just been smoke and mirrors from Oscar since Canelo took that WBC 160lb belt.
