[GIF] Joe Louis unloads punches on Simon until he slips

    Louis is in finishing mode here in Round 1.
    He unloads a savage combination of fast and heavy punches, trying to put Abe down.
    His attack comes to a halt when he loses his footing.

    My takeaways:
    - Louis can really turn the speed of his attack up, and has a dynamic range of gears he uses.
    - Even someone as technically sound as Louis can lose balance when throwing haymakers.
    - Louis has no fear of getting close to and exposing himself to a much bigger fighter.

    Really good sequence here. As usual Louis' punch selection is perfect. When he unloads with fury it's still correct blows from a boxing manual. The target moves closer or further after each landed punch yet at speed instinctively, without missing a stroke Louis is Shortening and lengthening each following blow for the distance required.

    Even the greatest fighter lose their footing. Isn't that right @mcvey

    They were fighting in leather soled shoes. Slipping was not unheard of.

    Yeah. And look how Louis moves him around with his punches in the first 3 seconds of the clip.

    I wish we had better quality footage for this fight.

    Joe was a comic book super hero. The man is the greatest heavyweight of all time, in my opinion.

    Great clips, thank you. The bigger they are.......! Just imagine how much more polished Louis would have looked, compared to Dempsey, in destroying Big Jess, another big lump. I doubt that Joltin' Joe would have needed 7 knockdowns to stop the insanely brave Willard.
