FOTC frazier in his glorious, snorting, left hooking best here. He's ready to go to war. Facing him in the opposite corner is undefeated riddick bowe. He's ready to show the world he's the best.
Can the ferocity of frazier win him this fight. Do the lefts constantly coming at bowe prove to much for big daddy?? Or is this a dangerous foreman like fight for Joe, facing a in fighter like bowe. Both men huge fighting hearts in this one but for whom is that enough?
15 rounds for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.

Nobody biting, Fergy? This is a great fight. I don't think Bowe has quite the power to blast Frazier out nor vice versa. Both had great stamina even though they could both look fleshy. Both had Eddie Futch in their corner in these years albeit as second in command to Yank Durham.

I think what makes the difference is Joe's ability to throw punches while on the move so he could time Bowe and leap in with a hook and there's every chance he'll score at least one knockdown. I have said before that Bowe's chin is not all it's cracked up to be but it seemed okay in 92. But if Holyfield could hurt Bowe, and he did in 92, so can Joe.

Conversely, Joe's chin gets a bad rep but anyone who could be as exhausted as he was in Manila and stand up to the shots he took that he couldn't see coming, without a mouthpiece to boot, deserves a bit more respect. Joe's chin was fine if he was in shape and the opponent wasn't Foreman. Bowe is good but he is not Foreman.

I see Frazier setting the pace and Bowe meeting him head on. Lots of mauling would mean it wouldn't be the firecracker that, on paper, it should be so one for the afficionados. But for those who appreciate the finer art of infighting it's great. Frazier works Bowe's body, Riddick uppercuts Joe's head and back and forth it goes.

After all that, I have no idea who wins. It's close and both winner and loser put up a great fight. That's all I'm comfortable predicting. Either way, I'd be pleased. Two likeable champs who fought their hearts out. In an ideal world it's a very highly paid trilogy and both men get some decent financial advice.

Good question. Bowe could find a nice home for that uppercut but at the same time leave himself open for frazier hook. Both had good stamina and work rate but I just have a feeling that bowe's SIZE against a slow footed fighter like Frazier and his better punch variety would win bowe the fight. Because if Frazier gets in trouble or his gameplan isn't working he has nothing to fall back on except his heart an he woul have to keep coming forward. Bowe would always have that size and reach. Bowe could also lean on Frazier to tire him out, hit him low, hold and hit. I think bowe TKO's him in 10 but could get hurt/dropped a few times

Bowe 92 was at his best. Hungry , fit , motivated and trained to peak on fight night by
Eddie Futch. Bowe at this stage had all the tools to be competitive with any hw. Bowe
uses his natural attributes size and superb boxing skills ( jab and infighting ) against
Joe. In a fight similar to Tua vs Ike Bowe wins on points.

I think this is a mismatch honestly. Bowe is bigger, stronger and has a considerable reach advantage. I can't see Frazier going the distance in this one.

I just get the image of it being a Frazier vs Foreman type scenario.
That is not disrespecting Frazier, just think 'Big Daddy' would be too big and strong for 'Smokin Joe'.

Yep edd, a great fight in the making this. Both these guys in there own way very exciting to watch. Bowe of course has a few advantages over Joe but that s not stopping him from trying to pound bowe in to the canvas. Frazier will have his moments in this one. But can see bowe cracking in the uppercut s, catching Joe frequently. Bowe s got to be at his best here other wise frazier will feast on him. Ultimately I see big daddy winning either a Dec or late round stoppage. But it's that close and exciting there's a rematch or two after.

I love Frazier but I think Bowe had the combination of size, boxing skills and enough power to beat Joe Frazier. Big Daddy has the advantage on the outside. Joe had to get past a good jab and right hand that Bowe had. The key is IMO that even on the inside Bowe can be effective against Joe Frazier. The uppercut and hooks that Bowe would throw would go Frazier in.

    Bowe TKO 5

I think Bowe is all wrong for Frazier. Bowe would obviously get the better of it at long range with his jab. Once Joe starts slipping the jab and getting inside, he'll have to deal with a ton of uppercuts coming from Bowe. Bowe was very good on the inside, and I think better defensively on the inside than he was on the outside (although that is not saying much at all).

It would be an exciting fight that Bowe gets the better of and stops Frazier in 8.

Providing Joe can get under the majority of Bowe's uppercuts,he cuts his man down before the end. Bowe has a shot at stopping Frazier early. All depends.

    Good thread,Fergy.

Frazier has without a doubt become the most disrespected HWC here. Now if it was Marciano Jeffries or my God even Carnera against Bowe all I would be reading is how Bowe couldn't deal with these men in one form or another. Its Frazier who has become eastside classics whipping boy. Lets hear how Young Stribling would take Joes title next. GMAFB!

Smokin Joe Frazier pummels Bowe onto the mat, I see the ref rescuing Riddick from unconsciousness around round 12 after a thorough life altering beating
