I really don't know **** about modern music, personally I like classical music the most. But I do like songs with meaningful lyrics about war, fights, athletic achievements, aristocratic warrior heroes of the past, killing etc. I don't like songs about love or anything like that. If the lyrics are good I generally don't care what the genre is. A bit politically incorrect lyrics but I love if the lyrics are a bit aggressive. It's pro-Slavic too. Kolovrat is an ancient Slavic pagan symbol. I love to play this before going to training.
I'll give it a listen. I primarily listen to metal and variations thereof. There are a LOT of lesser known bands from places that you wouldn't associate with heavy metal at all that have come up with fusions of folk music styles and metal that totally rock. There's a Russian band called Arkona that I like a lot, for example. If you like meaningful historical lyrics then you need look no further than the power metal band called Sabaton. They regularly celebrate military victories and heroes, and when they are good, they are really good.
