Is the scale of Golovkin vs Canelo being overestimated?

    We all saw what figures Golovkin bought in against someone who really is the best middleweight after Golovkin himself, 170k isn't great at all. Canelo is popular in Mexico and America but worldwide he isn't on PAC or Mayweather level.

    What makes a blockbuster boxing fight really is based on how many causal sports fans care enough to tune in and right now none of these fighters are "superstars". Honestly I think they'll draw less viewers than Canelo vs Cotto

    It's the biggest money fight in boxing to be made. So everybody in boxing (because they're all greedy suckers) are going ape**** trying to push for the fight.

    Canelo vs Cotto did well despite many believing Cotto was faded. I'm sure this fight does as good as That one

    I dunno that fight had the big Puerto Rico v Mexico rivalry and Cotto had been on quite a few ppvs. It's a shame though, that Golovkins nationality actually hinders his potential fame and pulling power. Imagine if he was American

    If GGG was American oh man who knows where is his star power would be. I've always maintained by the time GGG broke out it would be a bit late kind of like Sergio Martinez. Sergio was 37 by the time he got Chavez in the ring

    Rubbish.. A little 5'4" philipino managed to become one of two of the greatest PPV sellers of all time.

    That is very true... but there's the Philippines and then there's Kazakhstan...

    It will do about 1 million just like Cotto vs Canelo, unless either GGG or Canelo get derailed before it gets made.

    He got his push when in his 20's smart guy. Not early 30's as is 3G's case. He also had the right competition available to help Pac become that PPV seller.

    I think this fight would get 600-700K buys. It's a big fight, but it's not on the scale of what some might expect.

    The weightscale difference maybe, the overall skill scale is clearly in favor of Golovkin.

    But I already mentioned that this fight is losing it's lustre already. And might even more if Canelo looks vulnerable against Chavez.

    Terrible example Lance! lol

    Pacquiao was 25 when he beat MAB,
    Golovkin was 27 when he picked up his World title.

    Unlike GGG, Pacquaio actually sought out to be a true great by seeking the best competition available and daring to be great, no weight excuses, no money excuses.

    If Pac would have comformed and stood at Super Feather weight when he beat MAB he would not be the legend he is today.

    Ggg should have learned a thing or two from Pac, Mayweather, DLH, Hopkins, JMM (true greats).
