Kiltschko is a huge step up, even a faded Klitschko.

He is also a huge gamble by Joshua. And people should have nothing but respect for Joshua for wanting to fight the best out there, and his willngness to defend his belt against the top guys, like a real champion should.

Who wins? Hard to say. And those are the types of fights us boxing fans are supposed to love. Leave the bitching and whining at the door and enjoy.

I don't think anybody will be surprised with that result to be honest. Maybe a casual fan who only saw Klitschko in the Fury fight or something. But anyone unbiased on this forum knows there's at least a 40% chance Wlad wins this fight. It's just a question of what does Wlad have left after a very poor performance and inactivity, if Wlad has half his ability left then it's a mismatch, technically Wlad is leagues above Joshua.

I'll actually be surprised if Wlad wins.

His last performance in the ring (TWO YEARS AGO - against Fury) was so awful. He just wouldn't punch. The fight was there for him to win. He just wouldn't punch.

Joshua is a lot busier than Fury and seems to hit harder.

I expect Joshua to win inside four rounds. If it goes longer than that, Joshua is probably being too respectful.

I agree with this. I expect an early KO win for Joshua.

However, if Joshua is too respectful, and Wlad hugs him and ties him up and wrestles for a half hour, Joshua could get tired and caught.

But I don't see Wlad outjabbing or outpunching Joshua at all. He seemed so completely unable to pull the trigger last time out (two years ago), his only hope is just to hold and wrestle and maybe land one or two good shots late. (Like Foreman against Moorer, except Joshua is a helluva lot bigger than Moorer.)

In other words, I don't see Wlad having much of a chance at all.

Klitschko hasn't won a fight in two years. He's in his 40s. He isn't the top-rated challenger in any organization's ratings. Hell, he isn't even rated by the WBC or the WBO.

Joshua's taking this fight because Wlad is the biggest name in the sport ... not because he's among the best anymore. Fury proved that TWO YEARS AGO.

If Wlad thought he was still among the best, he'd have taken a couple tuneups. But he and his team weren't totally confident he'd win those.

    His last performance was awful.

what the the history books teach us about old champions and young up coming lions? Therein lies the likely answer to this riddle, but it is boxing and heavyweight boxing so this keeps things always exciting knowing 1 punch from either man could end the fight at any time........

It's only a year ago Lennox Lewis said AJ had no chance against Wlad so yep I know where you're coming from, this fight will tell us if Wlad is shot or if Tyson made him look so?

For sure,I'm a fan of AJ but I do fear his lack of rounds and that he's not had an opponent who's been smart enough to get inside like Wlad does, don't like to see that stuff for twelve rounds like Ward n Wlad but it does work.

Like i said. Klitschko is better than Joshua in every department. the question is not who is better because obviously it goes without saying Wlad is and no matter what happens it's highly unlikely Joshua will achieve anywhere close to what Klitschko has achieved. The question is just what does Wlad have left and will it be enough to beat Joshua. Which nobody will know until the bell goes. If Wlad has 50% of the ability he had 3 fights ago against against Pulev he wins comfortably.

I hate to break this to you, but it's 100% the truth so it could well be a hard watch for you.

The main points I outlined was that - Wlad is more talented than Joshua - which is obvious based on his proven A Level ability and his achievements, and that Joshua will never achieve what Wlad has - which again is obvious seeing as though Wlad dominated the division holding 3 of the 4 belts for over a decade! the second longest number of consecutive heavyweight title defences ever!... so it's just the truth that its extremely unlikely Joshua will come close to his greatness. Wlad from just 2 or 3 years ago would have been a huge favourite with the bookmakers... one very poor performance and inactivity has made me people believe Joshua can win... when the truth is it all rests on how over the hill Wlad is. no one will know till the fight starts. There was nothing delusional about anything I wrote!

:) This is what you call deluded... https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/broner-beats-everyone-at-140.531014/

Wlad better not try clinching too much with AJ or he might be the one that gets tired out. Technically he is well above AJ in skill but as Dom just said, how much does he have left?

I don't think anyone would be surprised. This is a close fight to call, and rightfully so. This is AJ'S make or break fight, so we'll see what happens.
