A boxer moving up in weight as he gets older is hardly unusual. In fact, it's entirely typical...

You covered just about every option in one line. A close but clear win for Golovokin over Jacobs who did himself proud and IMO very healthy for a division that has seemed paralysed with fear.

Golovokin is 160 who if he lets himself go gets to 170. The only way he could make 175 is a training camp of burgers and soft drink and he would be pounded senseless. Ward by stoppage at 175 - the bigger man with skills will beat the smaller man with skills.

If the proposed fight is to happen now at 168. I might actually favour GGG. I don't think it is a good idea for an aging fighter to drop weight, to fight a very dangerous foe nonetheless.
But I think it's a moot point. Ward team from day one has been a strong negotiator. He managed to win super six with all fights at home and his guarantee for fights are big.
I don't think it will ever happened at 168, plus he has Kovalev business to attend to.

Does anybody really think that Ward who looked like crap against Barrera would even actually beat Jacobs let alone ggg?

Ward hater here, but i was very impressed with Ward in the Barrera fight. Expected him to be the better Boxer but i was surprised that he matched Barrera for strength, even bettered him on it. My hope was that if he move up to 175 the strength of the opposition would stop him from wrestling, clnching, elbowing, butting and making for an ugly fight but it didnt, he was just as strong and was able to continue doing what he does.

I think it would be a very hard grueling fight for both fighters... I don't think their would be a KO. I think a split decision one way or another... super close

I think GGGs jab body attack ring cutting off and power will make him competitive but he still loses a 8-4 type decision

I think he does better than Froch

I didn't think GGG could beat Ward before the Jacobs match, and nothing has changed.

GGG never was on Wards level even when he had the chance to fight him and he knew it. Ward is odd in that he really is no 175 lbs fighter, all you have to do is look at the size difference between him and the other 175 pound fighters. Kov, Beterbeiv, Stevenson, Sullivan and the rest. I think that he felt that it was easier to go up but his frame don't really fit that weight. He is a 168 pound fighter who dared to be great and proved it. GGG is the same way, I think that he is a little small for 168 and should stay at middleweight. However, if he wants his ass beat by Ward then they can arrange a catchweight at 164-65 and Ward will bless him with a beatdown.

I believe, now more Han EVER that ggg beats ward 10/10 x. I originally believed ggg would possibly only be able to win by stoppage but now it's crystal clear who the superior boxer is and thats ggg by many levels. Kovalev out boxed ward clearly, but left just that tiny bit of room where his diehards could claim the fight could go either way.

It clear too many on the internet are completely ignorant to the fact that styles make fights and certain strengths will always beat certain weaknesses. Ward doesn't behave 1 punch ko power so ggg will not be cautious like against jacobs. Ggg will land and hurt ward.

Beat him by late , very late tko... very tough fight for both, ggg showed more to his game vs jacobs than most can grasp. Jacobs that night was a possessed beast and he got tamed, it's funny how the trolls try playing that off as a bad fight when it was a great boxing performance for 12 complete rounds
