    250lb DL for Tyson Fury is not even an impressive lift in the slightest given his long arms and weight.

    It depends what you're talking about.. different weightlifting sports have different movements and requirements for successful lifts. No technique that injures is ever going to be optimal, obviously. In the sport of weightlifting technique makes all the difference in hitting a clean and jerk or a snatch. In powerlifting with a suit and a limited requirement for depth you can do some odd looking things with a bench Press and with squat depth. In sports where lifting absolute weight is the goal then technique can suffer in the pursuit of marginal gains.
    No other athlete ever has to be anywhere near that strong, they lift weights to improve physical capacity/coordination so they have to lift with good technique or they're doing more harm than good. 'Strong enough' is more important than 'strong as possible', the gains for performance are clear up to a certain level then after that point you have diminishing returns, you're then wasting time trying to add 5kg on your deadlift as it's not going to make a difference to anything.

    I know. Still not impressive for a man who weights 250-270lbs. I know 160lbers who can DL that.

    90 pound dumbbells aren't really that much for a 250 pound man.

    Lifting weights does not help you punch harder. I would imagine that the best reason to lift weights in boxing is to add muscle if you plan on moving up a weight class.

    I'm not against lifting weights for boxing. I just think there is little benefit to doing it.

    250KG which is over 500lbs lol. anyone with a bit weight lifting experience can deadlift 250lbs.

    yeh but obviously doesnt look like he lifts regularly, his form was shoddy. i say its a decent lift, and its usually shorter squat guys who can deadlift/squat more.

    You didn't know that, that's why I had to correct you. I highly doubt you know 160lbers who can do that unless you hang out with elite level powerlifters. Stop lying, people aren't as stupid as you are.

    Of course they help you punch harder, you'd have to break the laws of physics for it not to help your power. Power is force times velocity. Lifting weights increases the force capablility of every part of the kinetic chain. Not to mention the stiffer tendons, more efficient movement and injury prevention. Boxing is a close second behind soccer/football for sports stuck in the dark ages when it comes to lifting weights. A boxer of any size is doing themselves a great disservice by not lifting weights. On the plus side because so many boxers don't do it or don't do it well you're likely not being too disadvantaged, relatively speaking.

    Lifting weights for boxing - each to their own. Helps get my blood flowing for recovery (when light and isolating the muscle) and a few isolated back exercises for injury prevention works for me. Heavy compound movements - that didn't work for power in my boxing. That's my experience.

    It's impossible for you not to improve punching power if you improve your ability to put force into the ground. How do you believe you ascertained it didn't work for you?
