Actually, I think that Floyd Mayweather is a better boxer that SRL ever was. If Lenard made Duran quit by boxing then Mayweather would have made him cry. By the way, he never fought Arron Pryor and Pryor called for the fight. Duran had no fear, maybe the money wasn't there.

Side note...mayweather sr said his dream matchup would be for floyd to face Duran and didn't comment on who would win.

To those who say boxing has progressed...my logic is floyd jr trained the same way as roger, Jeff and Senior. I don't think he reinvented their style of training - I do think he was more gifted & dedicated than anyone in his family.

Now PBF who beat Hernandez v Duran who beat Leonard in the first match. What a great fight. Could Floyd dissect him and frustrate him as did Leonard in the second fight or is Duran too powerful and could cut off the ring and make it an inside fight (I hope Cortez wouldn't be the referee calling break anytime Floyd looks vulnerable). I'd pick Duran -but we'll never know.

Pac and Duran are not similar at all really. Pac was a mover with speed, a punch and a solid chin. Duran had a shade less speed and a bit more power. But what Duran has that Pac doesn't is a brilliant inside game and is levels better on defense. His punches don't come in the rote 1-2-whatever-1 that Pac uses constantly in every fight, Duran was far more opportunistic, hitting what was open when the opening was there. Much harder to defend as a guy whose style is predicated on denying the 1-2.

Defensive minded is maybe the wrong wording. Defensively aware/instinctive would be a better description of Duran. And I never compared Duran to those guys you listed. And you shouldnt call Leonard defensive minded if you ain't going to for Duran. Leonard was a phenominal offensive force and one of the greatest finishers in history. Casual boxing fans watch Duran vs Leonard II highlights and come to the conclusion that's how Leonard always fought when Infact his natural style is more like what we seen in Montreal.

Good description on both Duran and Leonard. They are both offensive aggressive fighter. Leonard only uses his legs if he deems the opponent is too strong to trade with. With Duran, a lot of people fail to appreciate what a defensive marvel he is, including me initially. He can parry, slip, roll and counter, all within the position to inflict pain to the opponent.

Neither was Floyd. Floyd's physical prime
    was not 147.

It's always entertaining to watch people talk about the first Floyd v Castillo fight, and use that as a measuring stick. But, as par for course, they never mention the second fight... I wonder why?

Mayweather was definitely eyeing up fighters more when they showed a chink in their armour or a decline....He admitted it with Pac, he was stupid enough to show

Because they are deluded , they want to see a Fight , which Mayweather lost and the other Fighter was "robbed"
(the favorite word of some users here) .
They want that so bad , and they found that Castillo fight. Now they think they have something against Mayweather.
But they have forgotten that their Gods , the fighters from 50 years ago , have lost a couple of times and
struggled a couple of times , but they never mention it.

JLC 1 was a close fight I'll give you that but people who don't know **** about boxing say he struggled with Oscar and lost to Maidana.
