Of all the fighters we have extensive film of the answer is yes. Duran is the most skilled fighter we have seen.

No he is not . I have seen footage.
When we are talking about pure boxing skills.
Sugar Ray Leonard , Floyd Mayweather, Pernell fu**ing Whitaker , Vasyl Lomachenko, Guillermo Rigondeaux,
Muhammad Ali and maybe Roy jones jr have or had better skills.

He didn't lose to Maidana, but it was very close.

No, Floyd's inside fighting isn't as versatile as Duran's. His footwork isn't as varied. His feints aren't as good. His pressure skills aren't as good. His body punching isn't as good.

Ray Leonard's inside fighting isn't as good as Duran's. His feints aren't as good. His timing isn't as good.

Ali's body punching is ridiculously worse than Duran's. His pressure skills are lacking compared to Duran. Over reliant on speed as well.

Whitaker doesn't have the ability to consistently land power shots like Duran. His pressure skills are lacking compared to Duran. He can't set up his offense as well as Duran either.

Loma and Rigo are umproven. And Roy Jones isn't even as skilled as most of the ATG's of his own era.

We are talking about boxing skills that you can see with your eyes , how someone moves , the way he punches,
the way he defends . It does not care if someone is proven or not.

Boxing is about hit and not getting hit , the Fighters i have listed were counterpunchers , Duran was a pressure
fighter , therefore he had of course better pressure skills.

The most technically gifted fighters were always counterpunchers and are still today.
Because they mastered the art of boxing and that is to slip punches, to keep your Opponent at a safe
distance and to hit him exactly in the right moment to hurt him.

Duran isn't a god he was beat by guys that were not as good as PBF was and every time he lost people like you have an excuse. What part of that don't you understand? Do you realize how badly you underrate PBF? He's a ATG the best this era has to offer. The guy holds a stylistic advantage against Duran on top of that he has a much longer reach. Why do you act if that has no bearing? Especially against a guy who can move as good as PBF can and who was as defensively sound as him? A guy like Hearns is a guy I'd pick to beat PBF not Duran he's too small(reach) and struggled with mobile defensive fighters.

Because Duran beat a bigger, stronger and tougher SRL with a 74 inch reach.

Counterpunchers are not necessarily more skilled. That's not true at all. Pressure fighting is very hard. All the things that I listed that Duran does better than Floyd he does.

Do you really want to dispute that Duran has better ring cutting, more versatile inside game, better feints, more variable footwork, etc?

    I didn't think so.

Which of course had nothing to do with Duran being out of shape.

I would dispute the footwork. PBF's ability to control range and distance was second to none. Would you want to dispute that PBF has better countering better defense better jab more versatile better at making adjustments than Duran?
