Would easily say Duran has the better footwork. He's able to shift which Mayweather does not do. Duran controlled range with a short reach. He was able to control range against guys like Hagler and Leonard with 74 and 75 inch reaches. Duran's inside defense is more sophisticated because he's able to produced offense from his defense on the inside. Mayweather on the inside sacrifices offense for defense.

Here comes the excuses. That's what I mean about Duran fans, they overplay his wins and have excuses for every loss it's hilarious and embarrassing at the same time. Not being in shape is a big flaw as a fighter that's Duran's problem not SRL's. PBF is always in shape and it's an asset for him. Many fighters don't come into shape all the time and have lost see Toney for reference. It's a knock on their greatness just like not having a good chin. Can Hearns say his chin is an excuse for why he got stopped by Hagler? What about guys that cut easily, is that an excuse to? What was his excuse for his loss against De Jesus?.

You are right , they are not necessarily more skilled , but the most of them are.
Duran was more of a Fighter than a boxer . Floyd Mayweather is the boxer .
Duran had great skills , dont misunderstand me.
But he is not the most skilled boxer of all time , i explained to you my definition of a good technical
boxer , maybe you have another and that is ok.

His footwork was good but he was not able to cut the ring off against mobile defensive fighters Benitez made him look silly. PBF's lateral movement was better so was his ability to fight off his back foot. PBF balance is also underrated here he was always in the position to land the counter. Duran is more of a pressure fighter than PBF was but PBF especially at the lower weights was a fantastic inside fighter when he chose to be and could mix it up on the inside with the best of them. Whether he chose go catch and shoot on the inside or lay on the ropes making people miss frustrating them tiring them out and countering beautifully he could do it and very good.

Duran is the most skilled inside fighter to ever box. He does it better than Mayweather. That's about as obvious as it gets. Also, Duran started at 115 pounds and the Benitez fight was at 154. I'm pretty sure a young Duran would have been able to cut off the ring.

As for Duran's footwork he has techniques that Mayweather would get lost trying to do. Mayweather could never turn around his opponents. When Castillo and Maidana were on the inside banging away Floyd just tried to shoulder roll without really returning fire or escaping. Duran could just counter on the inside, turn them around and put them on the defensive and then start thrashing them.

He's right! at 38 taking out a huge middleweight and winning the title! Sugar Ray Robinson couldn't regain the title at 38

Yes I'd agree with that, skilled I'd give to Willie Pep. But Duran was a mixture of skill, defense and punching savagery at 135 pounds .He only displayed that same savagery once at welterweight beating Leonard. . And in my opinion that was the last time anyone saw the real Duran was in Montreal .Moore and Barkley were great efforts but not at the level he had shown.

Well what has Floyd done that is better?

Duran beating Barkley at 38, at 160 is the equivalent of Mayweather beating Golovkin.

So go on what is better?

How good was his footwork look while he was getting clowned against Benitez or quit against SRL? Movement and speed was Duran's weakness.

PBF was 37 when he fought Maidana and past his prime. With that said he still won. PBF was injured going in with JLC I and outweighed by almost 20 pounds but still won. That's what you're failing to realize. PBF always found a way to win. He didn't lose decisions like Duran did. He didn't get KTFO like Duran did. He didn't quit on the biggest stage like Duran did. PBF is more complete and mentally tough than Duran.
