Liverpool, Manchester, London, Belfast are probably the places with the most talent right now But I think the North East could be a big player in the future (Whilst.there isn't really anybody to headline now..) You have Josh Kelly just turning pro now who is a big talent. Warren Baister, Josh Leather, Lewis Ritson,Troy Williamson, Joe Maphosa, etc But more importantly in the amateurs they are really developing at lot of talent.. A lot of GB squad guys are from the North East area.. Pat Mccormack, Callum French, Luke Mccormack, Cyrus Pattinson, Kiaron Mcdonald, etc.
Ye the north east has real potential for big time boxing. It needs promoting right, something wazza aint that good at and he seems to be showing an interest in that area atm. Lets hope that now with bt on board the promo side will be made better. Bt are putting some awesome promos together already. They did the boxing comin to bt sports promo with warrington, bjs, nicloa adams etc, then theyve done one on terry flanaghan and ive just watched the smith v williams fight promo it was awesome. Hope wazza gets his sheit together and pulls his socks up. Wales also got a lot of potential atm as well as midlands. Oh and sheffield of course.
It's clearly Sheffield. Has a number of gym's and Team GB Plus Kell Brook throw in donnys Dave Allen etc it could be the 'home' of yorkshire boxing
There's only really Kell Brook though in Sheffield that's a top talent, hence why Hearn has rarely gone there in recent years and hence why he hasn't signed any other Sheffield fighters, There seems to be quantity there but lacking quality, Ingles gym for example is full of guys that have failed to get to domestic level and journeymen. Dalton Smith however in the amateurs looks a top top fighter. Good chance he medals at the next Olympics.
Leeds - josh warrington, nicola adams. Qais ashfaq is turning pro too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
who has he beat? hes been a pro a long time now and is still fighting journeymen, it's not a good look when fighters are doing that. I don't think hes good enough..he certainly hasn't proved it yet. He was losing on the cards to Jazza Dickens, and got knocked down by an over the hill Jason Booth.
Boxing seems to do well in UK no matter where the fight is, that is if the fighters are worth watching...........
