I think if Canelo wins this fight it will be counter-punching, at least in the first half of the bout as he waits for Chavez to gas in the later rounds. I suspect that will be the game plan, anyway....
There is already evidence if this look to the 114-114 card against Mayweather. Canelo won 2 rounds at most but it was scored a draw? Canelo did nothing but miss punches and punch at air yet he was given a Draw on one card. I don't think anyone suggesting that is being too paranoid with the evidence we have.
When I first heard of this fight I thought...I'm not buying it - cherry pick. But I'm starting to gain hope (I know I'm an ahole but I want to see Canelo lose). I love Nacho as a trainer and Chavez does have a chin and if in shape will have a healthy size advantage (big if)...so I guess I'm buying the fight now. Let's go Chavez
This fight has got fix & crooked written all over it.. Look for a contrived cash out trilogy & the dumb mexicans will lap it up too!
I can't remember the last time I've wanted a fighter to cause the upset like I want Chavez Jr to here. For so many reasons, but the main reason because it would be so funny, can you imagine Oscars face if Chavez Jr battered Canelo? Absolute gold. It's been said for weeks Chavez Jr has worked seriously hard, totally dedicated and focused and we will see just how well he performs but if the weight is anything to go by then it's a really positive sign. I still make Canelo favourite but I've got my fingers crossed for Chavez Jr, funny thing is I actually really disliked Chavez Jr but have suddenly become a mini fan for a couple of months.
if he is really 172, then dehydrating 8 pounds will be very easy. most fighters can loose around 10% of their weight by dehydration without jeopardizing their performance. However, there can be exceptions and consequences of doing it wrong.
this fight is a genious move from oscar. Starting with the Canelo haters on this board and finishing with Chavez Sr, everyone on the planet will want the ginger to win. If somehow he does manage to lose, imagine whats happening with the GGG fight...and when.
Cheesburger JR has been out of touch with any real opposition since he got put on dream street. How long since his last fight? He truly lacks self discipline and his only chance is inside the first 5 rounds where he should be swinging hard and looking for the KO. If his drained body makes it past 5 expect Canelo to finish him prior to the 9th.
I personally haven't seen Canelo be part of any robberies. There is a reason why there are three judges not just ONE, or TWO. Let me take a wild guess though, all of Canelo's close wins are robberies, but Golovkin vs Jacobs, that was a masteclass by GGg right? Gtfo!
I think this fight will be better than people think. I'm curious what Canelo will look like, how strong he will be. How's his physique at 164. I'm more interested in Canelo in this match than I am Chavez.
Not a very good post I have to say. Dream street? Yout mistaking, Chavez has never been put to sleep. Chavez has had two fights since losing to Fonfara. In his most recent fight just over 4 months ago, Chavez had no issues making 168. Chavez Jr. Has maintained almost the same level of opposition he's accustomed to facing. It seems that all top fighters from 160 up face the same recycled bums including Golovkin. So how can you knock on Jr for doing what all the top fighters around his division do?? While he has lacked discipline in previous important fights his best chance is absolutely not in the beginning of the fight. Chavez is not a 1 punck KO artist. He wears you down with pressure and size. I hope Chavez doesn't lose too much weight naturally and makes the mistake Oscar made against Pacquiao. Chavez biggest weapon is his size and he should try to maintain that advantage as wide as possible.
