Your making it personal man calling me an idiot...this is a boxing forum and I don't think I'm stupid either. And who uses the word thus - on a boxing forum!?!? Chill :)

I've done sport and I stated my opinion above. You don't lift more with bad technique...that's what I'm saying :). It's cool to disagree...slag me off...or do whatever. On this one - I know the truth. Good luck!

Different opinions are what forums are all about, of course.

But this is an objective matter. It's s fact you can lift marginally more with a imperfect technique. Go watch some world strongest man (they're the strongest men on this planet) and see how they perform lifts such as shoulder press.

A perfect technique would focus on a straight back with no use of the leg muscles, with the strength coming from the shoulders and triceps.

Yet they are all using the leg muscles as much as possible... so they can lift more.

These are facts, this isn't my personal opinion. You can't disagree with facts.

We have opposite opinions of facts...and that's cool! Maybe message for further debate (I've got time to trade YouTube vids and I think you can do that on this site)...but let's get back to boxing :). I'm picking Joshua

I'm not advocating a bad technique, but if the strongest men on the planet do it, it literally has to result in more weight lifted, otherwise, they wouldn't do it.

Joshua beats wilder, I give wilder a shot, I just have a feeling he is very chinny and even the power from an AJ jab will surprise him.

I see an early KO (rounds 3-5) either way but in favour of AJ 75/25.

I actually rate Wilder!!! I think he and his promoter just have to find their pen :). It's a good time to be a fan in boxing!

Okay dopey. The point is that you said you know 160lbers who can deadlift 250kg.
I'm a strength and conditioning coach for elite athletes so I highly doubt you know a whole lot more than me. A more than double bodyweight deadlift for such a big guy is certainly not a poor lift. His technique was poor but that's a different argument.

LOL the "no sex before a fight" is ridiculous. Babe Ruth would screw a hotel roomful of whores then go out and hit home runs. I know that Joe Namath would screw all night the night before a football game. ETC ETC.

A 2x bodyweight pull is pretty decent. Especially since he's so long, and likely would have a mechanical advantage switching to a sumo dead (debatable, but likely). His technique was poor, yes. Big deal. He's not exactly a competitive powerlifter. I'd question the value of max effort singles for his purposes, but thats a different discussion altogether. Yeah there are 160 lb guys pulling 500+, but you'll find the vast majority are training for power/powerlifting purposes, centered around the big 3 competitive lifts, with periodization, strength days, speed days, and appropriate assistance work. It's not unheard of for the odd gym rat to display freakish strength, but those are outliers.

What would punching technique have to do with lifting technique? It wouldnt.

As a seasoned lifter i can tell you strong man/compound lifts or techniques generate stronger lifts because you are not using just a select muscle group ,the body is using multiple muscles to help lift a object or weight. A punch is similar to a compound move bc you are using the entire body to generate force. theres a reason why ppl who lift for strength are stronger than body builders who lift to look good.

those olympic lifters are lifting using COMPOUND movements. They are not using ONE muscle group ,there is truth to what the other poster is trying to tell you.

I'm just going by what he and others said in the documentary. I don't mind if he lifted or not :). All football teams have S&C these days - I think - I don't follow it.

Vlad has always worked out with weights, but he uses them wisely, he stretches before and after a workout, and does a lot of work in the water, helps with speed and keeps down injuries, he spars a lot now also, Steward started that......................he is really looking good, he is up for this fight.................Vlad knows Joshua in the ring, he knows what to expect, Vlad has the power, is a little taller than Joshua, moves better, timing better, footwork better, has even more power, quicker, more skills, experience, but most importantly he is up for this fight. Vlad has a really good defense, knows angles, is a very good aggressive fighter whenever he wants, he will adjust to this fight in the ring, plan ABC, etc., Vlad also have really good stamina. Joshua has muscles, but so does Vlad, only Vlad is not stiff, he is more relaxed within a ring...........................Vitali said that if Vlad in focused, the fight will be easy..............................in camp Vlad showed he was superior.......................don't think age will be a factor..........................Vlad is a young 41....................I think he will win this fight, but you never know in boxing, esp, heavyweight. Secret; Vlad can fight on the inside, has short punches that are very hard, uppercut and can throw body punches...................he has that to use if he needs to. Vlad might come out agressively, used to be his style at one time, but not be careless.................Vlad does not have a weak chin, I feel good about his stamina. He is really looking good at this time.................Excellent chance to win this fight, probably by TKO or KO..................

    I'm sure you do. Great.

Regarding the thousands of people capable of lifting three and a half times their own bodyweight, are any of those professional top level boxers? If not then I'm kinda stumped why anyone would bring it up in the first place.
