Yes he is benefitted with both Mexican stars on both Oscar and Canelo in getting great numbers, that's just great business move to fight them in Mexican holidays. And it also helps that those 2 are perceived to have chance to dethrone his p4p supremacy.
His other non Mexican opponents such as Hatton and Mosley also cleared million ppv.

 

Mayweather was a great self promoter . A very astute businessman who knew how to get
the masses attention and for people to put their hard earn cash to pay for PPV. Every
move was calculated and done on purpose.
Good on him as he was quite polarizing and brought interest back to sport after Tyson
