    1) Of course title holders won't give him a shot without VADA. I mentioned specifically that heavyweights who don't have the best prospects going forward would be the ones lured by the money.

    2) Boxing is risking your life for money, and people fight juiced up fighters routinely. Have been for decades. That's not defending Povetkin, who I thought got off too easy, but a realistic assessment of PED's in the sport. Him using is not going to scare off a hungry/desperate fighter- all it's going to do is drive up their asking price, and if that fighter is going to sign on for it, they'll juice to the gills, too. Common sense.

Fighters who have other options will take them. But I don't think he'll have trouble at all finding a couple punching bags with winning records to cash inflated checks while he serves his "suspension".

The problem is he can fight whoever he wants, I think the ban only applies to WBC sanctioned fights.

How many of these potential opponents are VADA tested? Joshua wasn't until the WK bout was signed.

Povetkin has been a bust as a professional.

Of all the Olympic heavyweight and super heavyweight gold medalists to turn pro in the last 60 years or so, Povetkin probably only ranks above Pete Rademacher, Audley Harrison, Henry Tillman, Rakhim Chakhkiev, Odlanier Solis and Tyrell Biggs when it comes to professional accomplishments ... and (well) below Lennox Lewis, Wlad Klitschko, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Anthony Joshua, Ray Mercer and even Oleksandr Usyk.

Povetkin's been a pro for 12 years, and he's won a single WBA "Regular" belt (at the same time Wladimir Klitschko held the actual WBA belt.) That's it. That's Povetkin's big accomplishment as a pro.

All the others who won professional world titles actually held the only title that organization had. Even Ray Mercer won a WBO heavyweight title. (Not a WBO "Regular" Title, while someone else held the "real" WBO title.)

Of the 14 guys gold medalists who turned pro since Rademacher, Povetkin probably ranks eighth among the 14 in terms of pro accomplishments. (Lower end of the spectrum.)

And now he's approaching 38. He's unrated by all four organizations. He's basically a "domestic" fighter at this point, since Russia seems to be the only country that will let him cheat.

So I hope he enjoys the rest of his career fighting in Moscow against no-hopers and journeymen like Mike Mollo, until some young Russian heavyweight blasts him out. Because he'll never "sniff" another world title opportunity.

Povetkin has been a huge waste of everyone's time. He never came close to reaching his potential.

Let me know when he retires (so we can talk more about what a trainwreck his pro career was). Otherwise, nothing he does is news anymore. The division has moved on without him.

The "mastery" that earned him one WBA "Regular" belt in a career spanning a dozen years.

I'm sure I can find some clips of Tyrell Biggs and Audley Harrison landing some good shots, too.

Povetkin's career has been one colossal f*ck up.

As he approaches 40, he falls in the never-was, could've been category.

Tyrell Biggs?? Lol! You're really making that comparison?? Keep reaching dude. Povetkin is a VERY good fighter and I LOVE the fact that just the mere mention of his return sets certain people OFF!! ;)

If he's this scrub you think he is... well then it's not even worth commenting on right?!

I rate him above Biggs as a pro. That said, Biggs did actually beat someone (Damiani) for the gold medal. Povetkin didn't even do that. (He won the medal on a walkover when his opponent was injured in the semifinal.)

But it's comical for people to talk about MASTERY from a guy who only managed to win a WBA "Regular" Belt in a division with like SIX TITLES going at any given time.

Povetkin had talent. Lots of guys do. He did next to nothing with it.

His whole professional career has been a mess. (How bad do you have to screw up for NO organization in this environment today to rate you?)

He's screwed up so much, Russia is about the only place that will have him now.
