Louis by ko. Joes right hand puts Wlads lights out in round five. Louis is just too highly skilled for the stiff straight up European style of Wlad.
Who ever got past Wlad's jab before his 38th birthday? Only one man ( Sanders ) , and he was bigger, and much faster a foot with Wlad underestimating him. Plus he was a southpaw. Louis with is slower feet, low guard and stick his face forward would be in serious trouble, and Wlad has the superior movement with angles to " zone " Louis where he can hit, and Louis can not nailing him with jabs and landing the right hand flush. If they clinch, Wlad puts his weight on Louis and wears him down some. Schemling has a similar european style, and he had a field day on Louis for many rounds didn't. Wlad is bigger, hits even harder and has more range to operate safely. Seldom if ever was Wlad really tagged because ehe fought smart, had good defense and was a master at using his size and rage. Like I said for a big guy he moved around the ring swiftly. I'd give Louis a puncher's chance, but I think it would have to be early for him. Oh, and please give Wlad those 6-8 ounce gloves too. I'd favor Wlad to win.
On the surface it may be easy or emotionally enticing to pick the Brown Bomber to go out there Louis style, penetrate the Bigger man's comfort zone, land some lightening fast combos and leave him laying bloody on the canvas in round three. And while I fully acknowledge that this COULD in theory happen, would it really be that easy? Wladimir Klitscko for all his shortcomings was a very well rounded professional and his improvements post 2004 were highly noticeable. Through working with one of the greatest boxing trainers of all time and having world class conditioning coaches in the gym, Dr. Steelhammer perfected his jab, defense, and survival tactics to the extent that he went unbeaten for 11 strait years. It certainly seems plausible that if Joe Louis reeled off some combos to the body and head that Wlad would find himself in deep trouble. But how easy would it be for Louis to get past that pole-like jab which also had pretty good sting behind it? What would happen in the rare instance that he DID get on the inside? would he land those signature combos or would he instantly be tied up and then pushed back into outside range? How would Joe's chin hold up to getting nailed by some of those hard right crosses and over the duration of an evening ( assuming this goes behind the three rounds that some think it would end in ? ) And even if Louis manages to get some of his signature shots off, are we to assume that it would be immediately over with? Did Louis stop EVERY opponent right then and there the instant he touched them? I'm unsold one way or the other.
Louis couldnt avoid non stop left hooks from Billy Conn and was almost knocked out in rnd 12...who do you think would win in this match? lol If Conn was 4 inches taller and 65 pounds heavier how do you you think he fares against Louis then? The types of fighters who defeated Wlad were not remotley styled to a Louis. Under Steward Wlad learned to nutralize everyone, while still maintaining knock outs. Either way Louis vs a pulverizing jabber with power in both hands and speed pretty much sums this up.
Brewster not only got past his jab , he battered him from pillar to post and won in only 5 rounds. Zero skill , plodding bum got past his jab from round 1 -12. The real question is - who didn't get past hi jab. Tell me?
To be honest I see a lot of Joe Louis in Klitschko, especially the younger version. Two hard hitting technical fighters working from a great jab and balanced stance. Except for that Wlad is the extra-plus size version. I would favour Wladimir, I think.
He did not get past Wlad's jab, he took a pounding and kept advancing until Wlad appears to get ill in the ring. No way Louis takes that type of pounding. How Brewster got up from that crushing right hand in round four, I'll never know. Brewster's chin >>> over Louis. The fact that you disagree with me or anyone only strengthens our positions.
The thing for me which rarely gets considered is foot speed of supposedly slow HW men. The feet look slow because they often fought LHW sized opponents. Against HW men of the size of Wlad Louis looked far too quick and ferocious to be stopped. That being said, if Wlad is allowed to hug it's gonna take a hail Mary shot late on to do the job.
Wlad had really light and quick feet during his prime years. He could cover a lot of ground quickly and deftly.
In all likelihood wlad wins this. His size advantage and jab are going to make it difficult for Joe. But Joe s not going to be just stood there allowing wlad to take pot shots at him. If Louis sees a opening and connects, then wlad will need everything he's got to stay on his feet. If wlad wins its by a decision. If Joe wins its by ko. And Joe could ko any one.
You didn't answer the question of who he kept on the outside with his jab. Who? Brewster certainly did get past Wlads jab. Almost every time he went forward he got past the jab. He slipped jabs and right hands the came and came through with big counter shots to the body which is what lead to Wlads downfall. Brewster past his jab so often Wlad was forced to hold like a squid. Robert Byrd had to repeatedly warn him over and over. You can call me a liar but the tape shows Bryd coming to Wlads corner between rounds to insist he stops holding and leaning. Tell me how Brewster was in that position of getting constantly leaned down upon if he was unable to get inside ... Tell me?
