Khan will not have a "tune up" in Summer

In Khan's mind, why would he take a "rubbish fight" against a "rubbish fighter" like Bradley (or Brooke, Skeete, etc.)? In his state of deluded arrogance, Khan considers himself to be one of three or four so-called "global superstars" whos' only worthy opponents are the other two or three so-called "global superstars" to be fought in mega-PPVs once every 18-24 months.

 

So he's been sparring with 8oz gloves and no headgear, then? For 12 rounds at a time? Otherwise, how can he have tested his hands? I don't believe a word that comes out this guy's mouth...

Khan is a great talent with terrible management. To his credit he always tries to fight the best, but never fills the gaps between his big fights with the right preparation.

Lost to Lamont Peterson. The rematch falls through and he sleeps on Danny Garcia. Fair enough, didn't know anything about him and underestimated him.
Has a tune-up after Garcia. That's fine.
Only fights once in 2013, looks vulnerable. Bad for his development.
2014, fights Collazo, a southpaw, before Alexander, another southpaw. That's good.
Fights Algieri and looks very beatable at welterweight.
Doesn't fight again for a year and takes on Canelo a weight class above. Devastating knockout loss.
After that, and after surgery, he doesn't want a tune-up? Just a mega-fight right away? Earn it. And improve along the way. Don't rest on your laurels.

 

you can't be a great talent if you are multi flawed and have a really bad chin.

But, but, but.. I thought Khan was a "superstar" who generates huge money on his own? Draws huge gates? Does monster PPV numbers?

Surely his promoter and team want him to go and earn them bucket loads of cash?

And now he is sitting on his backside all summer or probably on Skype, doing nothing or flashing "little Amir" at unlucky women.



So another year goes past and he still hasn't fought a top welterweight, nowhere near a huge fight and becoming more irrelevant as every day passes.

Khan is a complete joker now, he should just retire, he don't want to win titles and have genuine fights at welterweight, he just wants an undeserved payday and will wait around like a little beggar with his hand out in the hope somebody throws a few coins his way.

I genuinely hope nobody gives this delusional fool a payday, I really hope he is ignored.

 

Great talents become World champions and beat the likes of Marcos Maidana, Zab Judah, Devon Alexander, Andriy Kotelnik. A great talent is not the same thing as a great fighter. Khan clearly has special talent.

hahaha get real Kotelnik is one of the weakest world champions Ive ever seen! he got that world title on a plate. he was totally feather fisted and average in every department as was Alexander.

 

Why doesn't he just cash out with a Brook fight and then disappear? The guy is a Glass Jawed Fraud and irrelevant.

That Canelo fight was 11 months ago and since then Khan has done nothing other than chat **** about Brook and then duck the fight. Announced a fight vs Pacquio which wasn't even signed. Told the world he wants to fight Connor McGregor. Oh not forgetting lost his mandatory title spot with the WBC.

 

Being a world champion in boxing isn't an achievement? Damn you must be a nobel prize winner or something.

Do you know what "average" means? (Hint: it doesn't mean well above average, which is what pretty much every fighter you see on TV is.)

Of course none of that has to do with whether Amir Khan has talent, which is what you originally tried to dispute (and failed).

 

theres 4 or 5 world champions in every division and like 15 divisions, and theres many weak champions,weak divisions, undeserved title shots, robberies, etc. The phrase 'world champion' is very different in boxing to other sports!
The Maidana that fought Khan and had him dancing and running all over the ring was very different to the improved one who faced Mayweather years later everyone knows that. But still yh I think that close victory was Khans only good win.

Kotelnik lost in european title fights, lost and drew with Mbaye, lost to Junior Witter. 140 division was weak as hell for years with guys like Khan, Kotelnik, Rees, Mbaye, etc etc playing pass the paper parcel. he is definitely one of the weakest world champions Ive ever seen.
