He would do well. I think Calzaghe's style would be effective against Ward. High volume, fast hands and good stamina. It's effective against good boxers. He already showed he could beat the king of spoilers in B-Hop (we know now that B-Hop had still a lot to give at that point).

Exactly  Hopkins went on to a few VERY good wins after that fight. Plus.. I thought he was THE ALIEN! Lol! 43 wasn't old by THE ALIEN'S standards!

they werent very good wins, they were just decent and excellent for his age. He went into way more problems than the 2 wins you refer to, for the first time in his career apart from just before facing joe.

hes not watering carrying, hes simply just not ignoring the ability of a guy who went to from MW to HW, substantially more than anyone else in the debate here.

why does the fact bother you that joe made only 2 non wbo defences?

edit - actually i think its just ONE non-wbo, come to think of it. Thats even worse.

to his credit a few of his wbo ones are worthy, such as the alleged draw with reid and the early stoppage on slippage to bryon just after joe had been floored and nearly stopped. lacy was a good defence too, as was injured kessler.

His performance against Bernard should give you an indication of how hard a fight against Andre would have been.

You've made a lot of great points in this thread Loudon, and i've no doubt Ward would bring a great challenge for Joe, but at the end of the day, Calzaghe's relentless workrate would make the second half of the fight absolute hell for Andre

Calzaghe's work rate and stamina basically brought about Hopkins' only TKO loss of his career

Ward's stamina is suspect, he has no punch, Calzaghe would exhaust him, and unless he had a ref that let him take a 5 min time out, there's a good chance of him being stopped

You have just said yourself about not being factual. that shows there it is not a default setting. I had forgotten that JoeBoxer had also picked you up for such things, but he is another. So how can it be a default setting for anyone? Several pick you up for quoting what fighters were thinking. Can you not work that out for yourself?
Yes I have picked you up for quoting what fighters were thinking as if you knew but Tell the truth now and be completely honest. Have you not said about fighters "They were thinking"?
We both know you have and if you say otherwise, we will both know you are lying.

I have read what you have written, but you writing it doesnt make it true. Does it!
You write that you respect others opinions if logical but you are basing this on your own personal logic as if yiou are some decider. You are not

How is it rambling off topic? Explain that.
You say you cant see why Calzaghe would clearly beat Ward and have said opinions were not logical.
I explained how another opinion was not deemed logical yet it turned out to be spot on, so how is it off subject?
You dont make opinions as I think you are worried about being proven wrong due to how opinionated you come across

Fantasy world? You know yourself that Serge shut down a thread with a load of links and you disappeared after.
Why would I bump it? Do you really think I am going to try and find a thread that I dont know who started from whenever/how long ago? You know that I would have trouble finding the thread, and that is you looking for a get out from what we both know to be true.
Now that I know you wont admit something that you know. I am of the belief you are trolling now

No you didnt. Serge shut the thread down. There was no counter. this must be the fantasy world you talk of here

Your own quote below from just a couple of posts earlier
    Yes Loudon
Im not, though I think you may be when you are out on the spot to answer honestly
What am I digging my heels in to?
Eubank was a top SMW who reentered the top 10 after facing Calzaghe, who claimed he could fight at SMW, LHW and CW and went on to puch a CW champ after losing to Calzaghe. Serge even gave the posts and links that dismissed your comments like Eubabnks movement etc
Yet you cant say whats not factual
You just posted the compliment above lol
That has never been questioned. What has been said is that after beating Watson, he went on a long SMW title run making at that time more defences of a SMW title than anyone else and beat rival and future champs at the weight, so cant have been spent like you try and make out
This is where you tie yourself up again because after the Watson fight he beat relinquished title undefeated Rocchigiani, future SMW champ Malinga, drew with SMW champ Benn, beat Wharton, Holmes, Essett, Thornton and some felt beat Collins but you want to forget all that he had done and dismiss Calzaghe being the only SMW to clearly beat Eubank because he was effected by the Watson fight. Got it Loudon. No agenda from you just me being bias
You like to pick and chose what comments a fighter makes to suit your agenda. Your non bias agenda of course
A comment like this where he feels he had years in him best be forgotten from you like when you ran from Serges links
Hey Loudon, if you read that he said he was faded you can dismiss him saying he felt he still had 3 years in him here.

Theres one above there, but I wouldnt want you to backtrack now
