Decent list. I'd have Lewis substancially higher and Holyfield a bit higher too but it's interesting.
Not a bad list really. I've seen some a lot lot worse. A high caliber of contributers to the poll so u can't argue to much about it. The guys there no what there talking about. Like Jt I would have put holyfield and Lewis higher. Liston and tyson higher than those two? Don't see how tyson ranks higher than holyfield.
i feel like lewis is a guy who is rated much higher amongst fans than he is amongst the media and writing fraternity.
Wlad needs to be moved up significantly. Foreman and Dempsey down a little. I read this few weeks ago and didn't care for the list although I did like seeing Pollack and Moyle as contributors, but looking at the list here a second time it's not that bad. Not sure how to place Sullivan, no film and still fought a handful of bare knuckle bouts. Bowe I would probably slide out for Schmeling. Reason I believe Wlad should be moved up is look at the top fighters on the list, Ali, Louis, Johnson, Marciano, Holmes, all had lengthy title reigns, tons of title fights. Dominant. Which is my criteria for all time greatness. Then Wlad gets plugged in at 16th. Reeks of the age old myth of the current dominant champ is not as good as the past dominant champ. And when reading the brief (I thought the article could of been longer) synopsis on opinions, one person said Wlad loses merit because today's top American athletes play different sports. Tired of hearing that. Boxing is global and if anything more ppl participating today on a global scale.
The list seems allright but where the the hell is Norton? He beat No1 Ali and arguably beat prime No5 Larry Holmes. He belongs around 15th to 18th in my opinion.
I would rank LL 1 slightly above Holy as far as heavyweights. Holyfield however ranks significantly higher than LL in the ATGs Pound for Pound List
