Im interested to know how the ref deals with Wlads mauling and groping. In Germany i wouldn't give AJ a chance against octopus Wlad.
He strikes me a guy like Pulev who expects a straight up fair and honest boxing match and won't know what to do once Wlad stifles and smothers him to beat the band.

Fury was too smart and crafty to succumb to Wlads fouling. I haven't seen anything to suggest AJ has anywhere near the same level of ring intelligence.
The ref will be announced next week and will play a pivotal role for each mans success. A strict no holding policy will see Wlad turned out for the count early.
A Tony Weeks like ref from the ulev and Fury fights would favour Wlad to flatten out AJ.

Im not sold AJ has the awareness to know whats coming. im banking on Wlad to pull the upset between rounds 1-6.
A KO should be a certainty in this bout.

And it looks like Joshua has bulked up for this fight. If anything he should come in a bit lighter for insurance against gassing should the fight go beyond eight and to enhance any speed advantage he has. I think he's a gym addict like Bruno was, and in the past year he's moved from a boxer's physique to one of a body builder. Keeping those arms up blocking the incoming fire is going to be tricky should it go long and he doesn't have the feet to evade. This fight is decided by which Wlad turns up.

I think a lot of people underestimate AJ's boxing skills on here, I can see him winning a wide UD against Wlad, his footwork has improved a lot recently and his jab is one of the best in the division. Once Wlad tastes that left jab he will become very tentative & look to survive rounds rather than win them by pop shoting on the back foot.

Wlad will not clinch too much in this one. Joshua is as strong as an ox. If Wlad did so, I expect such a tactic to backfire spectacularly. He will use movement.

If he can hold his own in the jabbing department and close the ring off on Wlad, then he should beat the old coot down.

When's he fought someone who's jabbing him back with a world class jab of their own? There's no significant reference point from Joshua beating quarter back-turned-boxer Dominic Breazeale, when assessing the quality of his jab or footwork. His best win was against Whyte and he pretty much doesn't have a jab. Skills can look world class when opponents are in survival mode...

He may not have beaten anyone world class yet but he has still looked very good against everyone he has fought, and for someone with only 18 fights under his belt his level of opposition is actually not that bad, it's better than the likes of Fury, Wlad & Wilder after 18 fights of their career.

If or when he does beat Wlad I guarantee most the people who picked him to lose will then use the Wlad was old excuse rather than give credit, I see it happen all the time.

Fury fought a prime Chisora in his 15th fight, better than anyone Joshua has fought. But we do agree he's not fought anyone world class yet and has not been properly tested.

As for the 'being old' excuse, well that's a little more complex than what you say. It is relevant - boxing is a physical sport - and an athlete's physical decline cannot be airbrushed out of post-fight assessments, I see it happen all the time. However, it's disingenuous to highlight the effects of Old Father Time in isolation of all other factors. Wlad has taken the fight and if he loses, he loses...

We'll see. Joshua's chin, while not proven glass like Wilder's, has to be rated questionable.

Let's just hope Wlad throws a couple. That's not been a given lately.

Your hero would be in a coma if he took that shot from Whyte.
