Rewatched Pavlik Taylor. Damn Kelly could bang. Would destroy today's Middleweights.

That right he landed that put Taylor into the corner before the finish was brutal. Savage power from Kelly. It sucks he had to go on and have alcohol problems and loss of enthusiasm for boxing. Prime Kelly could dominate 160 today like Golovkin did, but I think he may have even dominated 160 more so than Golovkin. Kelly probably annihilates Jacobs and Canelo.

Even Golovkin Pavlik is a 50/50 fight.

Also I can't believe Kelly is just 3 days older than Golovkin. WTF? how is that even possible? He feels like he's from a complete different era than Golovkin.

Yes great MW. Bit of a waste really.. He was dropped hard by both Taylor & Zuniga but fought back! Great heart..

    GGG v Pavlik what a match-up!

Pavlik is all wrong for Jacobs. GGG was scared of Jacobs power hence he ended up getting a gift. Pavlik would have just walked through ****, he might have been dropped but he would have took the punishment to force Jacobs to fight. Also GGG can't counter for ****. And no dont bring up the Geale counter. When someone has power and is backing him up, he does not throw back. He just takes a step back and covers up. He doesn't punch in between his opponents punches. Pavlik would have thrown with Jacobs. Jacobs has heart though, crazy heart so IDK if he stops him after cancer. Going through cancer is 10000x the opponent compared to GGG, Pavlik, Hagler all combined.

Prime Pavlik was a tremendous finisher. It seemed once he hurt you there was no where to go. He had such tremendous length, he could cut off the ring, power in both hands, good combination puncher, good on the inside, tremendous accuracy, composed and controlled. So once you were stunned there was little you could do to get him off of you.

Bad styles match up for Pavlik, but also massive size advantage for Hopkins. Bernard fought at LightHeavyweight during his amateur days and Pavlik fought at Welterweight.

Pavlik went up to 170 to fight Hopkins plus was probably already on the sauce.

I have no doubt that if Pavlik were fighting today he would be the #1 Middleweight, he fought and was successful in a much stronger MW era than today.

I think he was. He was one of those guys who destroyed his own prime.

Him and GGG would be a 50/50 fight imo. I dont think he's the definite #1, I think GGG was around the level of Taylor, Pavlik, Martinez, etc.

Pavlik was good in the two Taylor fights. Alcohol issues caught up to him fast. I would of liked to see Pavlik in top form against Martinez.
Triple G beats Taylor, and Martinez (who ducked him). Triple G vs Pavlik would of been tremendous fight in Pavlik's very short prime.

I personally dont think Pavlik would beat Golovkin, Golovkin is more technical, punches harder and has elite amateur Olympic pedigree. He has never been dropped throughout his career, I see this as a one sided beatdown in favor of Golovkin, Pavlik doesnt have the skills to exchange with Golovkin. But it would make for an interesting matchup.

Pavlik would get a slow beat down eventually after giving a good account of himself imo. Pavlik could give him big problems with his long punches for a while

Yea, Pavlik was past prime by 26 or 27 simply due to alcohol. It's the worst man. That drug is legal, but damn it.

This, I dont rate Pavlik as a technical fighter, he is more a puncher than a technician.
