Ryder is a far better boxer, but tends to switch off sometimes and ship punishment. Hard pick this one
Past his best mentally definitely. He's come in as the opponent imo. At one time he'd have been a favourite for this fight but given his recent form of think his mentality has shifted from someone who wants to succeed to someone who is there for a payday. I could be totally wrong here, because Ryder who showed up against BJS was an excellent fighter. However i think whilst Ryder has the tools to do a job, he won't put it together on fight night. For whatever reason Fielding is still a popular fighter, Ryder isn't. Fielding still has something left to offer boxing but i fear Ryder is just turning up as an opponent.
Anyways with the info about the cheats Dorticos is using, I wasn't going to be surprised if Shumenov got an eye injury after the fight
I don't think he's in a bad place mentally. What are you basing that on? I do remember him talking about the struggles of getting to 160, if anything this is a good weight class for him at the present and like I said, he's been fighting good opponents at his level, and winning, he has good momentum.
His brother said he got thumbed during sparring with recovery time of 2-3 months. Yeah I was surprised he needed a surgery.
