charley burley was a tactical genius and great fighter but his style wasn't crowd pleasing so I've heard from most historians Floyd Mayweather I believe Is another
Cus D'Amato went to a Eddie Machen vs Zora Folley "Title Challenger Eliminator" fight in the late 50's and said both guys were so "boring"...that neither one deserved a shot at title holder Floyd Patterson.
Michael nunn had a rep earlier on for been a boring fighter. Some of his fights changed that opinion slightly such as kalmbay and roldan. But the barkley fight, he really copped a lot of flak for.
Wlad 2004-2014. But it's really effective. He is the best in his time, no one beat him until 39 years old. Post Lennox he is the best along with vitaly. Wlad VS Vitaly would be DreamMatchUp.
Tommy Morrison, Julian Jackson, Earnie Shavers, Joe Frazier, Arturo Gatti, Edwin Valero, Ricardo Mayorga, Cuevas,.. too many to name.
Nunn starded stopping most of his opponents until he faced Carl Jones, Jones dropped Nunn in the first and Nunn got up and won all the rounds after that, but he changed his style to the one for he was criticized later in his career, then he stopped Tate Roldan and Kalambay so people were talking about star potential, but Nunn was never the same after Kalambay and even though he beat Barkley, Curry, Starling and Sosa and he even managed to win a world title a super middleweight, Nunn never had a great performance after Kalambay. Such a waste.
Yep, the kalambay ko was out of the blue and suddenly nunn was been looked at as a exciting fighter, then he met barkley. A lot of negative press around that fight I recall. But he was never going to go toe to toe with Iran any way.
