    If Thurman beats the winner from the Brook/Spence Jr. fight , he has to be the lineal champ.

    Of course , the winner from Brook/Spence Jr. should fight Thurman .
    The winner from this fight would have 3 belts and should be declared as the lineal champion.

    This. And basically, until there is a consensus #1 division, lineality won't start again.

    I appreciate the Thurman shout, I like him a lot too, but both Pacquaio and the Brook-Spence winner have some claim to being the top WW as well. If Thurman beats them, or if Brook/Spence go to 154 lb while Pac retires, then maybe he can establish a new lineage.

    PBF is the last Lineal Champ but is retired kinda until he fights McGregor. With that said the title is vacant.

    It had great tradition when it was genuinely the-man-who-beat-the-man-who-beat-the-man, but as soon as that cycle is broken it means very little.

    After Floyd announced his retirement, a new lineage was established for Bradley Pacquiao 3. Pacquiao is currently the Lineal Welterweight Champion.
