I believe you might be referring to the Michael Sprott fight?

 

I thought it was someone else but you may be right.

 

I could be wrong, but to my knowledge that's the only fight which comes to mind where Joshua let his hands go against a defenceless Sprott on the ropes.

 

I'll go and have a watch because I remember exactly what part of the ring it was/what the combo looked like, just not the opponent, I'll be back!

 

Just found it, was the end of the fight against kisicek. Nothing mind blowing but decent hand speed for a guy Joshuas size.

Well was thinking if he wins the next one well, no need for a rematch. Could you name me more than 9-10 guys you would have him in with that would be competitive.

Both furys, Ortiz, Parker, wilder, whyte again, maybe one or two future guys?? Big if to beat all them IMO but was thinking May run out of guys to fight before 30 fights.

What do you think??

 

I understand what your saying. Thing is, the dough involved for fighting puddings is that big that its hard to walk away. AJ will be no different from past fighters in that regard..

 

All these lucky bum numpties like Bellew will be looking even stupider than they are come the 29th.

 

Lots of mutual confusion in this thread on the semantics of "fast". Joshua is certainly a rapid mover but, to my mind, mainly in the athletic sense, rather than the "quickness" most useful in boxing. I reckon Joshua would be wonderful in those "Combines" that are used to assess budding NFL players (40m sprint, standing jump tests etc). His appaearance in the "Superstars" revival demonstrated his incrediible blend of speed, stamina, and strength.

BUT... boxing is not Ameriacan football. I rate Tyson Fury as an innately more natural "fighting man" than either Joshua or Klitschko - as a traveller Fury will have been boxing against his peers since he could toddle (but as a traveller, the odds were always against a lasting reign).

Joshua doesn't have the herky-jerky, twitchy unpredictability of Fury, which so thoroughly discombobulated Wlad and made him afraid to pull the trigger. Joshua can move fast, but only in-and-out, in an entirely predictable, linear fashion. I still think Joshua is the most likely winner but Wlad is the "value" bet". I can see Wlad timing Joshua, keeping him at a jab's length and either out-pointing him or catching him as he steams in. I can't help but recall what Wlad did to Pulev - another tall, decent amateur, with a good jab, and no lateral movement - he jabbed and clinched and then destoyed him with left hooks as he dashed in.

On the other hand, Joshua might just run-over him like an angry ebony monster truck! All outcomes seem credible, which I guess is the attraction of the fight!

 

Bellew is probably right, don't disagree with his comments.

 

Imagine the hyperbolic claims we're going to start hearing if AJ actually beats Wlad.

Anybody that knows me knows that I hardly rate AJ at all

I don't think as yet he has done anything of note & it's all hype at this point

I've made comments in the past about Joshua looking like a plodder, and not being as quick as many seem to reckon he is

But in his latest iFl TV training vid I noticed 2 things
1.) he looked much lighter on his feet
2.) he had very fast hands

So it's evident he is improving , however , it will take a lot more than looking good in a few training vids to prove Joshua warrants the hype that surrounds him.

I still think provided Tyson fury was switched on & motivated he would comfortably UD Joshua

But FairPlay , he seems to have improved in some areas a bit

Still telegraphing shots though and I get the impression that his hands won't be as quick as that in the ring.. His combo's never look 'blistering' on fight night, there has deffo been an improvement but bellew is exaggerating a bit
