Interesting, long article on Liston v Patterson I

    Lots of info I have never heard before:

    "toward Liston, though the difference in the construction of the gloves, and the possible meaning of this difference, was clear to everyone. The gloves had been made by two different firms, which was not the usual procedure, and, though they were the same standard eight-ounce weight, Floyd's gloves were the familiar, puffy shape, with most of the weight of the padding over the fist, and Liston's were extraordinarily slender, with most of the weight of the padding over the wrist."

    That was amazing. Did Liston ever really speak up about civil rights?

    I have only read several very short references re: Liston speaking out about civil rights. He was basically illiterate for up to when his wife helped him learn to read & write....and the media harassed him so badly. Sad that he actually made that statement in the article about MLK's efforts, and Liston wanting to help the kids of Liston's day.

    Very interesting about Sonnys gloves. He hard enough anyway but that has to be a big advantage.
