I don't think Cooney or Morrison factor in here. Both failed to achieve championship results with their hooks. They only looked great against retreads and also-rans.

I'd give Mike Weaver his mention before getting down to Tommy Morrison level. Compare their performances against Carl Williams (left-hook prone fighter) and factor in who was prime and who was past-prime in those fights, just for an example. Holyfield's miles above Morrison too.
David Tua is the only "cult"/contender status fighter I'd consider including, he pulled some good wins out with his hook alone, 'one-punch' style, against fairly decent opposition.

Top 5 : Liston, Frazier, Louis, Wlad, Tyson

Holyfield and Dempsey and Tua can deserve mentions.

Number of left hook stoppages against World Champions?? - ZERO.

Im not saying he doesn't havt a left hook. He obviously has a very good one , but Morrison left was superior in every way imaginable.
Like any great left hooker , Duke delivered it in combination to head and body and could actually catch guys in motion unlike Wladdy.
And if he fought Wlads run of scrubs they'd be saying he was the best left hooker of all time.
There's loads of guys Wlad couldn't stop who would be splattered by Morrisosn.

 

I get what you are saying and you are right but still, I have to admit it was still exciting watching Cooney devastate the likes of Ron Lyle and Ken Norton, as far past their primes as they were, with his free swinging left hooks, especially the hooks to the body.
