Nobody overrates Mike Tyson. He's the Bo Jackson of boxing period. The guy was the same height as GGG. Let that sink in. He's a once in a lifetime talent. He's just self destructive and manic depressive. There's nothing overrated about Tyson at all.
Tyson wasn't a bully. He was actually very skilled. His menacing look mightve intimidated a few fighters and fans, but skills pay the bills and Tyson had them. Buster for one fight had his number doe. He beat Mike the **** up. When I think about it, a lot of great heavyweights got beat the **** up-only Tyson, Foreman and Liston were tagged with this bully syndrome. "When hit back they folded"! Foh. Better fighters for one night beat them in their prime. Jmo
Oh he was VERY prime during the Douglas destruction. And he wasn't "Out of shape" Lol! He weighed a hair over 220lbs. That was his best fighting weight! He just fought a tall and fairly skilled fighter who wasn't afraid of him! Period. Yet 'Prime Tyson' is supposed to just "Walk Through Both Kiltschko's doe!" And LOL@ the ****ing IDIOT that somehow brought the MIDDLEWEIGHT GGG into this conversation!
I wouldn't think too much into this, what more it showed than a loss is how Tyson can keep coming at you like a tank. People seem to forget the 6'4 230 pounder who had a great jab and accumulated shots will add up.Basically Tyson was a 220 pound punching bag and he underestimated Douglas ( who McCall said was going to defeat Tyson ) who was Tyson's sparring partner. Not really much to say except a good 80's HW Douglas showed maybe those guys weren't too bad after all.
"Genuine question Why is this even counted as a loss when Douglas was down for 13.5 seconds after the uppercut?" Because the rule is that the fighter must get up before a count of ten, by the referee - not a ten second count by an off-screen timer. That's really the end of the discussion. Tyson lost.
Fair comments about being up on the referee's count. Like I say was a genuine question. Makes more sense now.
while douglas was down for 13 seconds, you could tell from the moment he was knocked down that he knew where he was. Basically he could of got up sooner if he wanted to, but used the count to his advantage. Basically, the same would of happened, He would of got up and still knocked tyson out. This is coming from a huge Tyson fan.
Except he got beat whenever he stepped up and fought guys who were willing to stand up to him. Many fools like yourself pretend he was unstoppable when evidence proves the contrary. Then in every fantasy match up ''prime tyson'' is always favoured along with a whole catalogue of excuses for why he never could beat any of the truly elite guys in his era. I'd put Tyson at the same level as Povetkin, both good head hunting bully's whose styles look good against opponents who give in to fear.
I said nothing of the sort. If you weren't such a gung ho hater of certain types of fighter, you could look past your hate and be rational. I called him the Bo Jackson of boxing. Bo Jackson is not an ATG. Bo Jackson is another synonym for "potential". Once of a lifetime talent that could do magnificent things never seen before but ultimately fell short. I will tell you once again. Stick to your magic the gathering card games. Boxing is out of your depth.
Well my apologies if were not intending to blow smoke up this thug's behind. When you mentioned ''once in a generation talent'' I'd assumed you meant that he was unique and that there'd be never anyone like him as if he was that exceptional. I must have misinterpreted what you were implying.
