Faded based on the fact that he's had back to back "3 extremerly competitive fights against world champions" and is going on 37 and 4 years older than when he first fought Loma.
Everything you said about Loma is true, but the one and only thing he needs to do and didn't do in the first fight was use the side step and turn. He does that extremely well. The way he punches and slides off to the side and comes back with the left up top is a thing of beauty. He also punches while moving to his right. This makes it almost impossible to be countered and he is never in position to be hit after he throws.
Yeah, like the Certain people who are always whining about Salido's low blows, but think Maidana's takedowns and shin kicks in the first fight were "just fighting hard."
That's because Maidana was fouling one of the dirtiest fighters in the game, while Salido was low blowing a guy is so clean he could be a Mr. Clean mascot.
LoooL!! "Whining" about Salido's 50 plus low blows in the fight. He made Golota look like Mr Rogers. Certain idiots seem to like to downplay Salido's insanely high number of low blows.
I doubt if Salido will have Lawrence Cole to help him in the rematch, Lomachenko had Salido almost out in the last round..................this time Lomachenko will knock Salido out...................I am sure of that................
three decades as a hard-core boxing fan and former amateur, the Loma-Salido fight was the most bizarre contest i've ever seen. On one hand, it's a composite of so many things that sadly have made boxing a marginal sport: Salido failed to make weight: probably a strategic decision because he was 2 1/4 pound over the 136 lb limit (He rehydrated up to 147, while Loma was 136)--remember weight classes on the lighter end are separated by 4 or 5 pounds, so Salido's weight at the official weigh-in was closer to SFW than FW Salido's performance was a clinic on illegal boxing: low blows, hitting on the break, excessive holding, holding and hitting the referee--Salido did this all night with the referee's blessing (a singlewarning) who by the way was none other than Laurence Cole (son of the Texas Boxing Comissioner, Dickie Cole) and widely regarded as the worst referee in boxing. post-fight commentary from Boxing.com: Few referees have turned in a performance as bad as that which Laurence Cole blessed us with Saturday night in, inevitably, San Antonio, Texas this ridiculous excuse for a referee be sacked forthwith but the role his father plays in allegedly consistently obtaining for him some of the biggest fights in Texas in his role with the Texan commission needs to be investigated Loma, a Ukrainian, fought a Mexican opponent, with a well-known disregard for the rules, in San Antonio, Texas--referee and the three judges, all appointed by the Texas Boxing Commissioner. I'm not sure how much more hostile a venue can get; might as well have fought Salido in a Mexican prison on the other, Loma's performance, when viewed in context, was nothing short of amazing The guy behind "Puch Lines Podcast" (one of the best boxing podcasts, IMHO) put it best: [Lomachenko] was fighting a full welterweight, getting hit in the balls all night, in only his second pro bout, and he still almost came back to win. In fact, aside from Salido's complete refusal to compete in the agreed-upon weight class, and despite his dirty fighting ignored by the referee, the fight was a split decision (not an MD, but SD); in other words, one of those 3 Texas judges though Loma won it. despite having the deck stacked against him, Loma landed more punches and he connected on a far higher percentage of them--i scored it the second time i watched it (so i knew the official score beforehand) and had Loma by 2 rounds (obviously the margin would have been far larger had Salido been penalized for his prison-yard tactics). and if this fight didn't make you a Loma fan, maybe his post-fight interview will. During that interview: Loma congratulated Salido on his victory he said that he thought the decision was "fair" he blamed himself for poor execution of his corner's game plan, and he promised to learn from the experience and come back stronger
Lomachenko won that fight and everyone knows it.................take a look at some other fights Cole has refereed in the past...................sick, really sick...........
with you up until, "[Loma] could be a Mr Clean mascot" i don't think so. Mr Clean already has one; it's the bald-headed guy with the earring--looks nothing like Loma.
