Imagine searching for "Feather Fisted" in the Encyclopedia, and seeing this:
    https://streamable.com/i0eel

    Still think Sharkey is acting?

How do you even do that with your body?
His legs are going forward and collapsing while his torso goes upward and backwards.

He doesn't even protect his head from impact on the mat.
He takes his acting craft seriously.

Sharkeys face goes into the mat. If your faking a fall nobody headbuts the canvas like that. Look how far up his head goes too. Right after it lands. You can't fake that.

Source and provenance? Gains said Carnera did not know how to punch hard. Joe Louis said he couldn't punch .

Is this one of the endorsements from former champs you were referring to?
"They figured like most of his bouts had been more or less, well I won't say what I should say,But sceptical,in other words, dubious." Jack Sharkey talking about Carnera in a taped interview .June 1971.LOL.

Louis said "They thought he would handle me like a baby."
I wonder if that was due to Carneras reputation as a fighter, or because he was huge.

Schmeling, Louis and Larry Gains each recognised Carnera as hard to beat and a worthy opponent. You don't have to be a great champion to be highly regarded.

Feeling desperate after realizing you've been watching Carnera knocking out Sharkey for 3 decades without realizing it? I can't even imagine.
But truth must prevail, not old tales.

No he did not say that, I have Gains book in my hand right now. Gains said Carnera "didn't punch his weight" as in 19 stones of weight. He does say "he was a very damaging puncher just the same" on page 107.

Ali did not punch his weight. He sparked out Zora Foley and George Foreman just the same.

No admission you were wrong on the novelty of a littler man overwhelming a giant then? Why not just ignore it eh?

Ali was a decent puncher and has no place in this discussion whatsoever neither does George Foreman whom you regularly disparage, like a dog returning to his vomit.

All those fights where the smaller man wins with small gloves actually endorses Carnera because he won the title in spite of this. Back when a talented fighter could overcome a bigger man before he got started Carnera was able to box and neutralise a smaller foe. Ahead of his time..

It's much much harder for a smaller man to win at top level today. Yesteryear, at top level, with small gloves it was the other way around.
