Just because it happened a handful of time in several decades, it doesn't mean the preconception didn't exist.
Louis said "They expected him to handle me."
That's what I'm trying to point out to you.

But Ali did not punch his weight. He still knocked guys out just like Carnera did.

    ,
Schmeling never fought Carnera fortunately for Primo! LOL.

Gains said Carnera did not know how to punch hard ,Louis said he had nothing!
I asked you for verified positive quotes about Carnera from former champions, the quotes you say they made, you haven't produced them and you won't because there aren't any!
You couldn't be more beat here if someone laid into you with a stick!

I found 18 fights which took me less than 5 minutes to locate.Take out the 2 Dempsey bouts you still have 16 fights that occured within 5 years previously of the Louis vCarnera fight.
Now how about you produce Louis's positive quotes about how good Carnera was?
Or are you going to ignore that request too?

Only for the fact that Gains calls Carnera a "damaging puncher" in print. Where is it in print where Gains says Primo didn't know how to punch hard??

A lot of fighters knock guys out without using their full weight. Carnera was clearly one of them.

I personally think Primo knew how to punch hard but he (like any big man) found it harder to time a smaller man with his full weight. But he didn't need it anyway. Half force will do.

Louis rated Carnera in his top 5 wins.
    I'm ignoring nothing.
Unlike you. Stop projecting, it's pathetic!
Your folklore of invisible punches doesn't survive the information era.

You need to produce a primary source for this .you just cant pick words out of the air and expect people
to believe them! Where did Louis say this?

But this indorses how good Carnera was. Oafish giants were at the mercy of smaller world class fighters because they were often thrown in over their head. Carnera changed all of that. He had a long apprenticeship, was able to improve and develop an effective style that worked at top level. He didn't look good but it worked. He was a ShW.

Just because Hollywood tried to make popular that he was a fraud does not mean he was one.

All this is just aimless twaddle ,Schmeling never said Carnera was any good either , he just praised his courage.

I shall provide a quote tomorrow from Schmelings book. He spoke well of Carneras attributes. No boxer ever called Primo a fraud.

Max Bear predicted Primo would beat Joe Louis! Here is a quote from Max Baer:

"On march 28th Max Baer came out in favour of Primo to win the fight. Max told the press that Primo would explode the meteoric rush of the young Louis. He acknowledged Joe might well knock Primo down but recalling his own fight with the tenacious Italian nine months earlier the champion predicted with his usual certainty that Primo would get back on his feet "I haven't forgot how many times he was down and up in my fight with him that I got dizzy keeping track of the knockdowns, and I wasn't fooling when I hit him either!" Max predicted that if primo was in the same condition as he was when he fought him then Primo would wear the young man from Detroit down."

How do you work this out? Both men would be wearing smaller gloves which should give the bigger ,heavier man an advantage!
