The same version of Chavez that fought Whitaker, faces a prime and healthy Buddy at 147... Can Buddy pull off the win?

Chavez is the better fighter here. But, at 147, McGirt probably wins a decision. 147 was a bridge too far for Chavez.

Yeah, JCC is no welter and Buddy presents all the wrong problems for him fighting up a division beyond his ability to perform at a world-class level.

Too bad McGirt hurt his arm. A potential really great welter champ who few remember today.

You remember his shoulder going in the Leon fight?..He had to seriously use every trick in the book to survive. Warrior in that fight, should've probably been pulled it was that bad

The more I think about it...Chavez would have a solid shot. Meldrick Taylor overwhelmed McGirt with speed...and while Chavez didn't have that type of speed, he was very accurate, and better defensively than Taylor, also had a better plan of attack for winning a fight. Chavez does have a chance...a solid one.

At beginning of 93 McGirt was top ranked WW. He then survived
2 Championship fights with Whitaker with one arm and without his
fav punch the left hook. James had won the title from a rugged
fighter in Simon Brown. Julio best weight was LW and was at his
most vulnerable at WW. James on pts.

McGirt wasn't that big so I don't think size would be a factor. He was so slick though. He avoided punches but always looked to land shots. Great counter puncher. Could chavez break him down? Close one but I think McGirt by decision. Maybe.

McGirt by close decision if the judges are not bought off.
